interview with mammootty

Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who has been acting for over 25 years,
says he is overwhelmed by the love he's received from people and hopes
to play many more roles before hanging his boots.
"The love and liking that people have for me has bowled me over
and I am simply overwhelmed, " Mammootty told IANS in an interview..

The actor, who has more than 300 films to his credit, says he is not
at all afraid of growing old.
"You and me, including the universe, are getting older by the
day. It is just a feeling and I am not at all afraid."
Mammootty hopes to do many more films and play different kinds of characters.
He already has several movies lined up in his kitty.
"My hands are full with many projects with leading directors like
Renjith, Hariharan, and Blessy," said the superstar who is now
shooting for "Pothan Vava" at the Central Prison premises
here.
The actor confesses to being a bad investor. He prefers his wife handling
his money.
"I am a bad investor and over the years I have realised that banks
are the best bet. Now my wife handles my money."
Excerpts from the interview:
Q: What has been most satisfying for you?
A: It is simple, because lots and lots of people like me. The love
and liking that people have for me has bowled me over and I am simply
overwhelmed.
Q: Are you happy with your achievements?
A: These days, what I achieved in 25 years can be achieved in a year's
time, so I don't think I have done anything great.
Q: What is the reason behind your success?
A: Hard work and only hard work has paid off for me. Being a very small
industry, hard work is a must. It has worked wonders for me most of
the time.
Q: How emotional are you?
A: I am very emotional and I get really upset when any of my films
flop. I also get hurt over silly things. That is the way I am, I can't
help it.
Q: How is your latest release "Bhargavacharitham Moonnam
Khandam" doing?
A: It's bombed. It was a black comedy and was not received well.
Q: So what next?
A: Will do a 'white comedy' (laughs)
Q: How is the Malayalam industry doing these days?
A: The industry is doing well and the digital revolution will soon
become the order of the day. There has been a remarkable improvement
in content also ... all this would certainly add colour to our industry.
Q: What is the future of Malayalam cinema, according to you?
A: More meaningful cinema is being made and that is the reason why
you see a rejuvenated Malayalam film industry. But more films aimed
at youth are needed.
Q: What are your future projects?
A: My hands are full with many projects with leading directors like
Renjith, Hariharan, and Blessy ... to name a few.
Q: What sort of characters do you portray in these films?
A: Each one of them is a different character. It includes a Tamil laundry
worker, a spoilt brat, a writer and many interesting characters.
Q: What do you do with all your money?
A: I am a bad investor and over the years I have realised that banks
are the best bet. First of all, where is the time to work on your investments?
Now my wife handles my money.
Q: Any chance of becoming a producer?
A: There are others to do that job.
Q: What about direction?
A: May be...

jayasurya again with mammootty

Jayasurya had always been one of the most entertaining actors among
the younger lot. His sequences in films always provided the viewers
with the needed amusement with light hearted comedies and different
maneuvers .But this was not the case with him, in films in which he
shared the screen space with Super star Mammootty.

He had been with the megastar in movies like `Parunthu' and `Bus
Conductor'. But in both the movies, the actor's presence were
sidelined with little dialogues and nothing much to remember.

Had the actor been presented in some interesting scenes, these movies
could have definitely benefited from the inclusion even in side roles
like last years `Arabikatha' and `Chocolate'.

Anyhow, the actor is again going to be seen once again with Mammootty
in the new Rafi-Mecartin movie ''Love in Bangkok''. This time, it is
heard that the actor will be presented in a role that will have
adequate meat in it, to show his mettle in the effortless comic
sequences.

Let us just wait for sometime to know whether it is `third time-
lucky', for Jayasurya.

'Twenty Twenty' for Oct 24

AMMA's magnum opus 'Twenty:20' will grace the Kerala theatres on the 24th of this month.

The production crew is presently shooting one pending song at Mauritius with Dileep and Bhavana. Majority of the dubbing and post production activities of the movie are over in the Lal studio, Kochi. The crew members are even excited to see the final cut of the movie which is around two hours and forty five minutes.

As per the latest reports, the movie is poised to reach 118 theatres across the state of Kerala on October 24.

Four films likely for Christmas

After a very dull Onam (the dullest in the past many years) and a rather dull Ramzan (with just one of the Eid releases likely to turn a big hit), it's now Christmas that the Malayalam film industry is looking forward to. And to cash in on the Christmas season, it's heard that four films are getting ready.

While Mammootty and Mohanlal will clash once again during Christmas at the box office, there is also a Dileep starrer in the offing plus Shafi's youthful flick Lollypop. Mammootty will have for this Christmas the bilingual Vande Matharam (Aruvadai in Tamil), in which he co-stars with Tamil star 'Action King' Arjun and with Sneha as the heroine. Mohanlal will have for his Christmas release the Shaji Kailas-directed murder mystery Red Chillies, scripted by A.K.Sajan.

Dileep, who hasn't had a release for quite some time, will most likely have one this Christmas in the Deepu Karunakaran-directed Crazy Rascals (that seems to be the name that the makers have finalized at last, after announcing almost half-a-dozen other titles). The Shafi-directed youthful Lollypop, with Prithviraj, Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban in lead roles, will also hit screens during Christmas and given Shafi's track record, which comprises of hits only, this film is likely to turn a hit too.

In addition to these four films, some other smaller ones too may find their way to the theatres during or immediately before the Christmas season. AMMA's prestigious multi-starrer Twenty Twenty may probably get released this month itself, while a couple of Suresh Gopi films (Bullet and Boss) too are awaiting release. Another Suresh Gopi film Violet, which is in the making, may also make it to the theatres during the Christmas season. Well, there's still lot of time for the final picture to emerge

Mammooty speaks on Kuttysrankku

Ace director Shaji.N Karun completed the second schedule of his off-beat Mammootty film Kuttysranku, in Chavara and Sasthankotta near Kollam. Mammootty was thrilled by his experience in working for Shaji.
The master actor says: " It is a different role that I'm enacting in Kuttysranku. The film moves with the memories of three women, which itself is a different method of story telling. The story takes place in three decades in three different islands and revolves around Kuttysranku' s relationship with the three women who come into his life. Shaji has tried to bring some magical realism into the film."
Mammootty is working for the first time with Shaji as a director. In the early 80's Shaji has worked as a cameraman in Mammootty films like Padmarajan's classic Kooduevide and Arapatta Ketiya Gramam.
The actor is all praise for Shaji, the master director. " He has a special knack in getting the best out of me. We have some kind of chemistry which has worked well for the film. There is a freshness about the film, which has made the actor in me work overtime. Do you know in a scene I do a Chavittunadakam (street play) and sing a song? As an actor, I'm very pleased with the way the film has shaped out."
Mammootty has three heroines in the film- Kamalinee Mukherji, Padmapriya and Meenakumari (in pic). There is a fourth lady in camerawoman Anjali Shukla, a former assistant of Santosh Sivan. Anjali's camera is said to be one of the highlights of Kuttysranku

Top 5

1.'Kurukshetra' - The biggest release ever in Mollywood, `Kurukshetra'
is keeping its spirits high with good initial collections and good
word of mouth. The movie is expected to creative collection records in
the opening weeks. In many of the metros the film is being shown in
three centers while seven towns have the movie in two centers. The
movie is currently entertaining packed houses in around 111 centers.
Mohanalal is again into one of his best role's in recent times, living
as colonel Mahadevan.

2. 'Mayabazaar' - After a big first week, the interest shown on the
film is gradually coming down. The Mammootty factor is the only
positive thing in the movie which is already written off by the
critics as a bitter movie. Majority of the viewers are in the view
that the unimpressive scripts by TA Razaaq have spoiled the entire
proceedings. The movie is registering 60-80 percent collections in
major centers. The great opening week collections due to the
continuous holidays, and release in eighty odd centers will help the
movie to end up in between an average earner and a hit.

3. `Parthan Kanda Paralokam' - Another movie that is handicapped by
inane scripting, 'Parthan Kanda Paralokam' benefits majorly due to its
timing of the release. The movie which has been shifting its release
for the last six months now had opened to safe collections due to the
continuous holidays and celebration mood of Ramzan and then Pooja
holidays. This Jayaram starrer will also end up as an average earner.

4. `Veruthe Oru Bharya' - Jayaram's return movie 'Veruthe Oru Bharya'
is still holding to fourth position, even after two months in
theatres. The movie continues in select theatres all across Kerala,
and is expected to end up as a mega hit.

5. `Thirakatha' - Renjith's flick on tinsel town had very good word of
mouth. But the movie, even after great reviews didn't got lucky to end
up as a hit. The movie makers will have to satisfy themselves, as the
movie will get to safer side of collections for its producers

mayabazar review[by rediff]

You get an inkling of the things to come when the protagonist of the film is equated to none other than God himself. And, to convince us of the fact that he deserves such a comparison, he is shown doing an act of compassion and the next moment fighting half a dozen of goons as a saviour of his boys. This, in fact, is just the beginning of Mammootty's Malayalam film, Mayabazaar.

It does not take us long to realise that this is a packaged superstar vehicle, directed by debutant Thomas Sebastian.

Mammootty is scrap dealer Rameshan, who distributes free lunch in the general ward of a government hospital everyday. But our Rameshan is not an average scrap dealer, who goes house to house collecting waste. On the contrary, he is hi-tech working in trendy overalls dealing only in outdated and wrecked automobiles. At other times, he is a dapper young man sporting funky hairstyle and wearing stylish short shirts displaying his biceps. He has also pierced his ear and has a silver earring.

He is adored by the charming Maya (Tamil actress Sheela rechristened Maya). But being a practical man that he is, Rameshan does not pay any heed to it.

This story unfolds in a scrap yard called Mayabazaar.

There are stock characters to give solidity to the plot, like comedians Suraj Venjaramoodu and Bijukuttan. Rajan P Dev as Rameshan's father Aakiri Damodaran, is reminiscent of his roles in Chhotta Mumbai and other films. Then there is Kalabhavan Mani as the negative character Bhadran, who deals with stolen vehicles and has an eye on Maya and her land.

It feels as if the team behind this film wracked their collective brain to bring some novelty to the proceedings, and seemed to have got something really interesting towards the end of first half. But disappointingly, they fail capitalise on it and rush towards the climax in a jiffy.

There is enough for Mammootty fans in Mayabazaar to cheer, clap and hoot about; punch lines, comedy and their hero shaking a leg in couple of songs. The rest can enjoy their enthusiasm.

mayabazar review[by indiaglitz]

Mayabazaar’ should have taken us for a special experience with its interesting story line. A film with a vignette on lives of scrap dealers unfortunately end up as a scrap though backed by a glamorous Mammootty who portrays his role with elan. The man to be deplored is sadly one of the most experienced script writers of our times, T.A. Razzak. His recent films like ‘Parunthu’, ‘Aakasham’ and now ‘Maya Bazaar’, are all showing similar problems in their narrative structure - films that refuses to move beyond their outset frames. Whence, this script from one of the best dialogue writers of the present times showcases more of an analphabet in him rather than any persuasive digressions for a downy show.

With such a harum-scarum scripts, ‘Mayabazaar’ is a flat out average movie making, from the first-time director Thomas Sebastian. He seems to be passive at the helm, letting his erratic actors run rampant with the thin script materials, in order to pad this pallid plot to a torrid 2 hour mark. In this tedious attempt, the movie offers a few twists that won't graduate to culminate for a handsome reward.

Thomas Sebastian's ‘Mayabazaar’ is perhaps aimed at the hardcore fans of Mammootty. But with a very lackadaisical approach to the narrations, and padding scenes out with excess heroics, the movie appears stretched out as a long film by any means. The enterprising basic story from Govind - Ramdas should have been a smart and witty comedy thriller, but wanes in plodding plot development and shallow, stereotypical characterizations.

The movie is set at ‘Mayabazaar', a market at mayanoor where scrap or parts of worn out vehicles are sold. Mammootty dons the role of Rameshan, a leading man of the bazaar and local do-gooder who buys old vehicles, dismantles them and sells the parts. Rameshan is the son of Akri Damodharan (Rajan P Dev) who migrated to Mayabazaar from Cherpulassery. Akri Damadharan is a typical character who occasionally steals money from his son and sets on for pilgrimages.

Rameshan, who values living for the downtrodden, is also the main organizer of lunch packets to the ailing patients of the nearby hospital. A lovable and fearless guy, he often has to deal with a rival gang lead by Bhadran (Kalabhavan Mani) who causes him problems, all based on his relation with Maya, who is madly after him.

The entire first half showcases the verbal and physical fights between Rameshan and Bhadran at regular intervals. Apart from the impressive titling and the surprise interval punch, there is nothing engaging in the former half. And in the later half, it is a different story altogether.

Only the quality of the actors manages to give the necessary spark to the screenplay imploding from a lack of intensity and interesting plot points. Mammootty maintains his masculine charm all through the movie, though with no exceptional execution. Sheela, rechristened as Maya in Mollywood shows her finesse in acting, in the few scenes that she have. Rajan P Dev, Sasikumar and Lalu Alex are in their very usual roles while the comedy trio of Suraj, Salim Kumar and Biju Kuttan fails to liven up, any of the scenes in the first half, that banks heavily on their one liners. In fact, this is one of the rarest occurrences in recent times where Suraj’s character is a total letdown, without being able to add any interest to the proceedings.

The debutant director, have showcased sparkles of his experience and brilliance in the second half and, in the racy flashbacks. The technical side of the movie is mentionable. Manoj Pillai's cinematography and Prasanth Madhav's art direction are the finest points of the movie which makes it a glossy, watchable affair.

Bijith Bala also support the director with fairly done cuts and visual effects and safely editing out the Mammootty ''dances ‘‘.

If you're a fan of Mammootty, perhaps you might like seeing him deliver this average movie, and watch it at least once. But it's quite a sacrifice if you are not. Because, no amount of high-energy antics can cover up the fact that the movie doesn't offer any measurable appeal to anyone.

mayabazar review[by galatta]

If you are a Mammootty fan, you will surely enjoy Mammootty's latest venture Maya Bazaar by debutant director Thomas Sebastian. The film moves with some interesting twists and turns especially during the first half, but fails to reach anywhere and has nothing new or novel to offer.

Maya Bazaar is the name of a street where spare parts of condemned vehicles are sold. Rameshan (Mammootty), son of typical Akri Damodharan (Rajan P. Dev, who occasionally steals money from his son and sets out on pilgrimages) is a highly virtuous man, a good Samaritan who provides lunch packets to the ailing patients in a nearby hospital.

In fact, Rameshan is not a typical scrap dealer, who buys old vehicles, dismantles them and sells the parts. A lovable and fearless guy, he is an elegant, well-dressed young man sporting a funky hairstyle, silver earrings and wears stylish short shirts. He is adored by the charming Maya (Tamil actress Sheela now named Maya). But being a practical man, Rameshan does not pay any heed to her allure.

Rameshan often has to deal with a rival gang lead by Bhadran (Kalabhavan Mani), who deals with stolen vehicles and has an eye on Maya, her hand and her land. The entire first half has Rameshan and Bhadran taking on each other regularly, mainly over pretty Maya. Bhadran is desperate to get her, but she is completely smitten by Rameshan's charm. Several verbal and physical fights between Rameshan and Bhadran follow, after which the story takes an abrupt turn after the intermission and ends up nowhere.

Mammootty, who has portrayed some of the best roles in Malayalam, maintains his masculine charm all through the movie. Heroine Maya has nothing much to do. God only knows why Tisca Chopra accepted such an inconsequential role in Maya Bazaar, after her stunning performance as Darsheel Safary's mom in Taare Zameen Par.

Rajan P. Dev, Saikumar and Lalu Alex are in their very usual roles; the comedy trio of Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, Salim Kumar and Biju Kuttan fails to liven up and even to add any interest to the proceedings. In fact, this is one of the rare occurrences in recent times where Sooraj's character is a total letdown.

Coming to the technical side, the main problem with the film is the basic plot, penned by T.A. Razzak, one of the most experienced script writers of our times. The film suffers due to the amateurish, unimaginative script and mediocre compositions, while Manoj Pillai's cinematography and Prasanth Madhav's art direction are the finest points of the movie, making it a glossy, watchable affair.

No doubt, the team behind the film wracked their collective brains to bring something really interesting towards the end of the film. But disappointingly, they fail to capitalize on it and rush towards the climax in a moment. Anyway, the movie is enough for Mammootty fans to cheer, clap and hoot about; punch lines, comedy and their hero shaking a leg in couple of songs should make them cheer.

'B' centers celebrates `Mayabazaar'

Mammootty's Ramzan offering 'Mayabazaar' opened in around 70 centers,
with good audience pull all along. The movie was not released in
around 25 A centers listed in the release day advertisement.

`A' centers like Ernakulam refused to screen the movie, following the
decisions from the Film Exhibitors association. But the makers of the
movie played safe by opting for government theatres in seven major
centers including Thiruvanathapuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur. A few A
centre theatres like Alleppey and Attingal also showed a difference
of opinion to their association by screening the movie.

Meanwhile almost every B centers celebrated the movie with house full
shows all through the initial couple of days. Some centers even
screened the movie more than ten times in this two days. Though the
movie has been generating mixed opinion from its first day viewers,
it is sure to end up as a profit maker due to this initial hype that
it has generated and also due to its mindless festival mood
packaging. If supported with intense marketing, the movie even can
defy the statistics of trade experts to emerge a long runner.

Keerthi debuts in Love in Bangkok

Mammootty's Rafi Mecartin directed Love in Singapore, has changed its
title to Love in Bangkok. The shooting which was scheduled to start on
October 9 in Singapore has also been shifted to Bangkok.

The Mumbai model Keerthi Kulhari plays Diana who works for a software
company but falls in love with Machu played by Mammootty .

Earlier Keerthi had been the model for various brands including the
Taj Mahal tea with Saif Ali Khan.

MHM films are producing the film which will be distributed by Vaisakha
films. Love in Bangkok is slated for release on January 23, 2009

Good opening for 'Maya Bazzar'

Mammootty's latest filck 'Maya Bazaar' got released on Wednesday and the actor took the day off to celebrate with his family. The film has opened to a good response across centres in Kerala.

"I have taken the day off to be with my family to celebrate Ramadan. My daughter has come, but my son is in Singapore. I am certainly happy that my new film has got good reports," Mammootty told to our source.

Directed by Thomas Sebastian, the film is inspired from the real-life story of a person who provided food packets to patients in a hospital near Thrissur district. In the film, Mammootty carries food packets for the ailing patients at the nearby hospital every noon.

'Maya Bazaar' has been released only in B and C class theatres because of the controversy in the Malayalam film industry that started when Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) decided to exhibit new releases in maximum centres in the first week itself but the film Exhibitors Association had opposed the move.

Earlier, new films were being released in 48 centres but it was increased to 85 centres six months ago.

Suresh Kumar, who leads the Producers Association, said the present controversy with the Exhibitors Association is going to end today itself.

"All the issues are being discussed and from tomorrow onwards all the main centres would also be releasing these films," said Kumar.

But state owned Kerala State Film Development Corporation decided to screen 'Maya Bazaar' at the main centres as well.

Mohanlal's latest movie 'Kurukshetra', a film directed by former commando Major Ravi based on the Kargil conflict, was slated for release today.

"I wish that Mohanlal's film too had been released today, but the release didn't take place due to some problem," said Mammootty.

Meanwhile, huge crowds were seen in all the theatres where 'Maya Bazaar' was released.

Mammootty teams up with Shaji Kailas

Known as one of the most prolific directors of Malayalam, Shaji Kailas is teaming up with Mammootty in his next film. The director’s last film, Ali Bhai, was a complete washout at the box office.

The Mammootty-Shaji Kailas team has produced several hits like The King, The Truth and Valyettan. Shaji ventured into feature films through the low budget movie News. It was Thalasthanam (featuring Suresh Gopi as a hero seeking revenge for his brother’s death) which made Shaji noticed by the masses. Then came another hit, again from team Ekalavyan, in which Suresh Gopi played the role of Madhavan IPS, who fights the illegal drug trading done by the help of a Swamiji (played by Narendraprasad). But it was Commissioner, released in 1994, which catapulted Shaji to fame and gave Suresh Gopi the name Super Star.

Shaji’s movies are famous for their action and punch dialogues. After doing several movies of the same genre with Suresh Gopi, Shaji teamed up with Mammootty and Mohanlal to produce some of the biggest hits in Malayalam films. With Mohanlal he did Narasimham, and Aram Thamburan which became major hits, but his later films with Mohanlal like Ali Bhai failed to impress the masses.

Known as one of the most prolific directors of Malayalam, Shaji Kailas is teaming up with Mammootty in his next film. The director's last film, Ali Bhai, was a complete washout at the box office.

The Mammootty-Shaji Kailas team has produced several hits like The King, The Truth and Valyettan. Shaji ventured into feature films through the low budget movie News. It was Thalasthanam (featuring Sureshgopi as a hero seeking revenge for his brother's death) which made Shaji noticed by the masses. Then came another hit, again from team Ekalavyan, in which Sureshgopi played the role of Madhavan IPS, who fights the illegal drug trading done by the help of a Swamiji (played by Narendraprasad). But it was Commissioner, released in 1994, which catapulted Shaji to fame and gave Sureshgopi the name Super Star.

Mammootty fans arrested for harassing him

Three diehard fans of superstar Mammootty were arrested on Monday by the police for harassing the superstar on the sets of the upcoming film Kuttyshranku in Kollam, where Mammootty and the crew of Kuttyshranku were shooting the second schedule of the film.

Those taken into custody have been identified as Simi Dennis, Roshan Paul and Krishna Kumar. The three, in a drunken state, hugged the actor and troubled him. Two more persons, who were with these three, escaped, a report said.

The second schedule of Kuttyshranku, directed by internationally-acclaimed director Shaji N. Karun, started with the onset of the monsoon to capture the rainy season and is continuing at a brisk pace. Mammootty has three heroines in the film: Bengali actress Kamalinee Mukherjee, Padmapriya and a Srilankan actress. The story is told through the eyes of the three heroines, who, after the death of Kutty (Mammootty), remember him. Mammootty appears in three different get ups.

‘Mayabazaar' opens in record centers

Setting new records in the number of release centers, Mammootty's Ramzan offering ‘Mayabazaar' opened in 93 centers in Kerala. Amidst the recent row between ‘A’ class theatre owners and producers associations, this heavy number of release centers will be a pointer towards what the industry is heading to, in the near future.

Even many ‘A’ class centers are listed in the release day advertisements of ‘Mayabazaar’. Though these centers may take a couple of days to start screening of the movie, the trade is an all expectations that every release centers will be forced to run the movie, ultimately.

Some centers like ‘Kuzhithara’, ‘Kallachy’, ‘Kollamkodu’, ‘Ezhupunna’ and ‘Oyoor’ are for the first time getting a release print and the fans there are all set to celebrate the arrival of a big new movie in their home theatres.

This according to trade experts will bring in a new enthusiasm and renewed interest on release cinema to the people of these villages. With good preview reports, ‘Mayabazaar’ directed by debutante Thomas Sebastian, is expected to fetch great initials in the opening week.

'Maya Bazaar' - Mammootty's Ramadan gift to fans

Kochi, Oct 1 (IANS) Ace Malayalam superstar Mammootty treated his fans with his latest movie "Maya Bazaar" on the occasion of Eid.

The film released here Wednesday and the actor took the day off to celebrate with his family.

"I have taken the day off to be with my family to celebrate Ramadan. My daughter has come, but my son is in Singapore. I am certainly happy that my new film has got good reports," Mammootty told IANS.

Mammootty also said that he took part in the prayers here.

Directed by Thomas Sebastian, the film is inspired from the real-life story of a person who provided food packets to patients in a hospital near Thrissur district. In the film, Mammootty carries food packets for the ailing patients at the nearby hospital every noon.

"Maya Bazaar" has been released only in B and C class theatres because of the controversy in the Malayalam film industry that started when Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) decided to exhibit new releases in maximum centres in the first week itself but the film Exhibitors Association had opposed the move.

But state owned Kerala State Film Development Corporation decided to screen "Maya Bazaar" at the main centres as well.

Another Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's latest movie "Kurukshetra", a film directed by former commando Major Ravi based on the Kargil conflict, was slated for release today.

Hi friends,

Saw Maya Bazaar today from Thiuvananthapuram Kairali. The movie is gud to watch. It was released only in Kairali and Sri. was not released in the scheduled 'SL' Theatres. The show started at 10.30am.It has 2.15hrs.The fans were eagerly waiting for the release. They were roaring like anything with slogans. As the suspense was broken(in double role) the fans was expecting a twist in that suspense too. But nothing is found. Now I think.... what was the need for that fu_king director to break the suspense earlier itself. Otherwise it would hav scored like anything.Anyway it haven't disappointed any of ikka's die hard fans.As Kurekshetra was not released today this film got much media attention too.It was aired in asianet afternoon news also. It carries a gud report everywhere.
But in the layman's point of view ...it may lack variety.infact, a sort of variety does exist in the movie but it could not be portrayed truely by the director.Anyway the ultimate verdict will be of the layman's, rather than the ones of fans like us.
So according to me the ultimate verdict will be 'GOOD'.

Theatre: TVM-Kairali
Show: 2.30 pm
Status: HF

After a lot of problems,MB finally made it to theatres today. After
the opening show, saw fans enjoying in front of the theatre. I went
into theatres expecting a festival entertainer, something like AT.. But
was surprised to see comedy elements were lesser..

Movie started off well..I liked the way director presented the
titles... Mammukka's intro scene was simple, but the scene following
that was the usual heroic stuff. After that 1st half dragged with
comedy scenes not bringing out any laughter..Interval scene had a good
twist. But athoke Nana magazine'il ittu polichu

Felt second half was interesting with Rameshan investigating abt the
other character.. After a sequence of events, everything becomes
predictable & leads to the usual fight sequence at the end..

For an actor like Mammotty, there is nothing gr8 for him to perform in
this movie.Still as Rameshan, mammukka was cool & other character was
presented differently. Kalabavan Mani was good. idichu kuthi peyum
dialogue climax'il Mani parayum.. It received good applause..
Suraj, rajan p dev & Biju kuttan was ok. Salim Kumar,Janardhanan was
wasted. Both Maya & Tisca chopra looked, but athikam perform cheyan
onnum illa..

Music suited the mood of the movie..TAR's script-compared to Parunthu
is better.. Nothing new.. It must be his 1st entertainer as
scriptwriter.. But ithu pole kore entertainers vannitondennu paavam
TAR arinjillennu thonunnu Direction was just ok.

On the whole, eniku feel cheythathu "an avg 1st half with a twist b4
interval.. An interesting 2nd half with a predictable ending".

Verdict: An OK masala flick.
