Script writer Babu Janardhanan would soon be turning director for a film titled 'Bombay 1993 - March 12' in which Mammootty would play the lead role.
Babu's film would deal with the events that immediately follow the Bombay blasts that rocked the nation on the 12th of March, 1993.
Babu has been busy scripting this film for the last one year. Mammootty would play different characters in the film in different get ups, and 'Bombay 1993 - March 12' is expected to be another milestone in the actor's career.

'August 15' for February
Megastar Mammootty's first release of the New Year 'August-15' will get released on the first week of February. The movie which was originally scheduled for the last Christmas could not reach the theatres due to little delay in its shooting. A sequel to eighties hit 'August-1', the movie will be a suspenseful thriller in the scripts of S N Swamy. The movie will have to take on 'Arjunan Saakshi' and 'Makeup Man' at the Box Office which will be the other releases in the nearby weeks. While Prithviraj's 'Arjunan Saakshi' is scheduled to get to theaters by the 28th of January, Jayaram's Shafi movie 'Makeup Man' will release on the 11th of February.
Mammootty into the health industry
After becoming a mammoth star in the show industry, Megastar Mammootty is now turning to another service sector- the health industry. Mammootty will promote the new hospital started by his son-in-law Dr.Mohammed Reyhan Syed who is a famous cardiothoracic surgeon at Bangalore. Named as 'Motherhood Boutique Birthing Hospital' Mammootty was seen as the chief guest at the inaugural function. Basically a family affair, the function was also attended by Mammootty's daughter Surumi, and his son Dulkar Salman.

Mammootty looks forward to first film production, hospital
- After a very productive 2010 with four hit films and a best actor award, Malayalam superstar Mammootty will in March this year launch the first film under his production house -- a sequel to his 1990 acclaimed film "Mathilukal". The new year will also see his hospital project taking shape.
His production house Playhouse will formally enter the business of filmmaking with "Mathilukalkkappuram", sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan's celebrated film that won him one of his three National Awards.
"The year gone by has been a great one and thanks to god for that. My first production will be launched on March 1 and it would be an extension of the film 'Mathilukal'," Mammootty told IANS over phone from Puducherry where he is shooting new movie "The Doubles".
"Besides me, it would have Nayantara in the lead role and Ravi K. Chandran would wield the camera while Resul Pookutty would handle the sound," the actor-producer said.
Mammootty, who has acted in more than 300 films in the past three decades, said he has quite a few projects lined up for the coming year as well.
"Success brings more responsibility and looking into the projects lined up for the present year, it appears there are quite a number of films that are interesting and challenging. I wish and hope everything goes off well," he said.
Apart from the film world, he is also upbeat about a boutique hospital in Bangalore of which he is the patron. But Mammootty prefers not talking about the business venture, which is to be inaugurated Jan 12.
"See, I am not even a director in the hospital project in Bangalore, which has been named 'Motherhood'. This is owned by my son, daughter-in-law and two other NRI investors. My role is that of a patron and we have planned this to be a chain of Motherhood boutique hospitals across the country in the near future," said Mammootty, who is in his 50s.

mega hit, multi-starrer Pokkiri Raja. His solo hero Anwar took the
best opening of the year, with Ernakulam Shenoys reporting Rs 11.62
lakh nett, the highest opening of the year in a single screen.
However, the producer of the film said in an interview that the film
was a loss due to its high cost.
Prithviraj had five releases out of which one was a mega hit, which he
has to share with Mammootty , one average grosser in Thanthoni and
four failures.He attained national attention with Mani Ratnam's
Raavanan, in which he romanced the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai. His time is
all booked at the moment, with new projects being announced almost
every other day.
He has recently gone into production by producing the upcoming film
Urumi directed by Santosh Sivan.He made his debut in 2002 in the
Malayalam film Nandanam, and has since acted in more than 50 films,
notably including Swapnakoodu (2003), Classmates (2006), Thirakkatha
(2008), and Puthiya Mukham (2009).

Malayalam actor.He has won four National Awards - two Best Actor
Awards, one Special Jury Award, and one Award for Best Film (as
producer).
He has also won six Best Actor Kerala state awards, the most times the
award has been given to any actor. In 2001, the Government of India
honoured him with the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian
cinema. In 2009, he was granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant
Colonel by the Territorial Army,which was the first instance in the
history of Indian cinema of an actor being conferred an honorary Army
rank. In 2010, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit awarded him
an honorary doctorate.

T A Razaaq to direct
Senior Scriptwriter of Mollywood, T A Razaaq, who is taking a break from films following the poor run of his last films, will soon turn his attention to movie direction. His debut movie as a director will have Megasatr Mammootty in the lead and will tell a story based on family bonds. T A Razaaq is currently busy finalising the scripts for this project.
Meanwhile, T A Razaaq will script two more films for other directors. One among them will be a movie for Kamal, which will have Mammootty in the lead. The megastar will appear as a sports teacher in this movie which will get into sets by the end of 2011.
Mammootty, Mohanlal bag Asianet film awards yet again
- Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, who have dominated the Kerala film scene ever since they debuted over 30 years ago, have bagged the top honours at the 13th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards announced here Saturday.
Mammootty got the best actor award for his roles in films like "Pranchiettan - The Saint", "Kutty Shranku" and "Best Actor", all which released this year. "Pranchiettan - The Saint", directed by Renjith, bagged the best film award.
Mohanlal, who has acted in nearly 300 films, was named for the Asianet Golden Star Award for his overall contribution to cinema. The special award had gone to Mammootty, who is in his 50s, last year.
Asianet vice-president M.R. Rajan, who announced the awards here Saturday, said there were 28 awards in various categories.
"The awards will be distributed at Kochi on January 9 and for the first time we have decided to give an award for Tamil films as well. Vijay, for his various films, has got the popular hero award in Tamil films," said Rajan.
Popular south Indian actress Nayantara won the best actress award for her role in "Bodyguard".
The best director award went to popular producer-actor-director Lal for the film "In Ghost House Inn".
The award for the most popular actor and actress went to Dileep and Mamta Mohandas, respectively, for their roles in several films released during 2010.
Jayasurya was selected as the Youth Icon of the Year.
Asianet is the first Malayalam TV channel that went on air in the early 1990s.
