Mammootty launches Puthiya theerangal CD

Megastar Mammotty has launched the audio C D of the new movie from Sathyan Anthikkad titled 'Puthiya Theerangal'. Expected to be on theatres within a couple of weeks, the three songs of the movie written by Kaithapram are set to tunes by Ilayaraja. Director Renjith, Rima Kallingal and K R Pramod were also present in the function.

Presented by Mathrubhumi music , the movie will have songs sung by Vijay Yesudas, Hari haran, Shwetha and Madhu Balakrishnan.

Puthiya Theeranagal presents Nedumudi Venu in the lead role with ample support from actors like Nivin Poly, Namitha Pramod, K P A C lalitha, Innocent  and Chembil Ashokan. Produced by Anto Joseph and Written by Benny P. Nayarambalam,the movie will be on theaters by next week

Richard Gere, Mammootty to share red carpet in Abu Dhabi

Mammootty and Hollywood icon Richard Gere will share the red carpet on the opening night of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

The sixth edition of the festival will run Oct 11-20, with the screening of 81 feature length films and 84 short films representing 48 countries.

Gere's hit movie "Arbitrage", co-starring Nate Parker will open the 10-day extravaganza. Gere and Parker will walk the red carpet, along with one of the film's executive producers, Mohammed Al Turki from Saudi Arabia and director, Nicholas Jarecki.

Also attending opening night will be Indian actor-producer Mammootty and Iranian actress, Golshifteh Farahani, among others, said a statement issued Tuesday.

The festival will witness other red carpet premieres, master classes and workshops by regional and international film experts.

Two Lifetime Achievement Awards will be awarded this year. One will be awarded to Egyptian screen legend Sawsan Badr, and the other to Italian film star Claudia Cardinale.

The festival will have a spotlight on South Korea, with six great films and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Algerian independence.

Mammotty - Dileep join for a new venture

As the Onam releases 'Thappana' and 'Mr Marumakan' did not do well in the box office, the two stars, Mammootty and Dileep, are coming together for a new movie.

The untitled movie will be directed by Thomson K Thomas whose debut was a hit film 'Karyasthan' starring Dileep in the lead role. Sibi K Thomas- Uday Krishna duo is busy giving final touches to this movie which is expected to start its shooting in October. The movie is produced by Anto Joseph. 

Mammootty and Dileep had earlier worked together for movies like 'Rakshasarajavu', 'Kaliyoonjal', and 'Megham'. 

Mammootty starts shooting for 'Bavuttiyude Naamathil'

The shoot of Mammootty's new film that has been titled 'Baavuttiyude Naamathil' has started at locations at Kozhikode. The film is being scripted by Ranjith and directed by G S Vijayan.

Along with Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan and Shankar Ramakrishnan would be seen in key roles in the film. Mammootty plays a car driver in the film that is expected to be yet another gift to the audience from the Mammootty - Ranjtih combination.

The film was originally supposed to have Anoop Menon in a key role. However, owing to Anoop's very busy schedules, Shankar Ramakrishnan has stepped into the project. 'Baavuttiyude Namathil' is being produced by Ranjith under the banner of Capitol Theatre.

Hit team is back

The team which had created the biggest hits in the career of Megastar Mammootty, director Anwar Rasheed and scriptwriter Benny P Nayarambalam  is back together for another project. They will be back for a colourful thriller laced with plenty of humour.

Mammootty will be donning the role of a police man again for this movie , which will have him speak that very popular ''Rajamanickyam'slang. 

Meanwhile, with the superhit status of his latest ustad Hotel Anwar Rasheed has been able to convert all his movies into super hits. The other three from the director includes  'Raajamanickyam, Chotta Mumbai,and  Annan Thampi.

'Jawan of Vellimala' completes its dubbing

'Jawan of Vellimala', Mammootty's new film, has completed its dubbing. The post-production work of the film is currently on and the film is briskly being readied up for a release on October 19.

'Jawan of Vellimala' marks the directorial debut of Anoop Kanna, who had been an asociate director with Lal Jose for a long time. The film also is Mammootty's maiden production venture under the banner of Playhouse.

The film stars Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Asif Ali and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles and tells a story that has been set against the backdrop of an old dam. Scripted by James Albert, the film will also be distributed by Playhouse.

Mammootty applauded by Tamilnadu

Mammootty was showered with praises for his act of kindness. On his Birthday, Mammotty extended a helping hand to the victims of Sivakasi blast. Mammootty ensured free supply of Ayurvedic medicines worth Rs. 40 lakhs to the victims.

The medicines are supplied by Pathanjali medicals in which Mammootty is also a partner. Mammootty's philanthropic act was applauded by the Tamil media and politicians.

Mammootty is also the Chairman of the Care and Share Charity Foundation which strives to uplift the lives of the less fortunate through various healthcare and educational programmes.

Megastar Mammootty who has carved a special place in Mollywood history celebrates his 61st birthday .But the star will not be going on with the characteristic celebrations. Instead he will be dedicating the day to provide treatment facilities to those affected with the recent blasts at Shivakasi.

Mammootty who owns the Pathanjali ayurvedics has decided to provide free medicines  for treating burns to all those who are at hospitals following the infamous  blasts that happened in a cracker company.The medicines of Pathanjali which amounts to around half a crore will be delivered to the people as a part of his birthday, free of cost.

Mammootty who had been in the industry for more than 30 years had already acted in around 375 films in six languages.

Heroine hunt on for 'Kunajanthante Kada'

Salim Ahmed's upcoming film 'Kunajanthante Kada' would have Mammootty playing the lead role. The film that would start its shoot by the end of the year is on the look out for a heroine.

This actress would play Mammmootty's wife in the film, that is about the marital discord between a couple, who live together merely for the sake of their children. A rat would also play a key role in the film.

Salim Ahmed had cast Zarina Wahab opposite Salim Kumar in his nationally acclaimed film 'Adaminte Makan Abu'. 'Kunajanthante Kada' would have Madhu Ambatt wielding the camera, while Resul Pookkutty would be in charge of the sound direction.

Rasool Pookkutty will be part of Kunjanandante Kada

Oscar winner Rasool Pookkutty will do the sound recording for the new film 'Kunjanandante Kada' directed by 'Adaminte Makan Abu' fame Salim Ahmed. Mammootty will do the lead role in the film. Scripted by the director himself, the film narrates the story of a mismatched couple.

Rasool Pookkutty had earlier associated with the Malayalam film 'Pazhassiraja' written by M T Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan. Pazhassiraja also had Mammootty in the lead role.

'Adaminte Makan Abu' had won several National and State awards including best actor award for Salim Kumar. 

Salim Ahmed signs up Mammootty for his next

 For his second film, nationally acclaimed film maker Salim Ahmed has signed up Mammootty. The film has been titled 'Kunjanandante Katha' and would start rolling by the end of the year.

There would also be Salim Kumar playing a key role in the film. It should be remembered that Salim'a debut film 'Adaminte Makan Abu' fetched Salim Kumar the National Award for Best Actor.

'Kunjananthante Katha' would focus on the marital relationship of a grocery store owner. Salim Ahmed, who has scripted the film himself, is currently on the lookout for a heroine for his new film.

Mammootty focuses on work on his birthday

Actor Mammootty, who celebrated his birthday yesterday could find no time for celebrations, since he was quite busy with work.

The actor is currently busy shooting for 'Jawan of Vellimala', and spent the day shooting the final schedule. 'Jawan of Vellimala' also happens to be the first production venture of the actor.

'Jawan of Vellimala' marks the directorial debut of Anoop Kannan who had worked as an associate of Lal Jose for a long while. It also has Asif Ali, Sreenivasan and Mamta Mohandas in key roles.

Mammootty in Bavoottiyude Namathil

Dispersing all suspicions, Ranjith has finally revealed the details of his new project with Mammootty. Bavoottiyude Namathil is scripted by Ranjith and directed by G S Vijayan.

Mammootty and Renjith are joining hands for Bavoottiyude Namathil after the box office smash Pranchiyettan and the Saint. Earlier the film was titledMalabar.

Mammootty is donning the role of Bavootty and Kavya Madhvan will be the heroine in Bavoottiyude Namathil. The other cast is to be finalized.

The film is produced by Ranjith under the banner of his Capitol Films. The shoot is expected to begin by the first week of October.
