Kamal to remake A Wednesday?
This is one rumour that every serious fan of cinema would want to come true as soon as possible. What rumour? That Kamal Haasan, highly impressed with UTV's A Wednesday made with legendary Bollywood actors Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher, is considering remaking it in Tamil! The excitement does not stop there the thespian also plans to reprise the part played by Naseeruddin and make Malayalam superstar Mammootty play Anupam Kher's part!
UTV's A Wednesday, which summarizes a series of sensational events taking place on a Wednesday in the life of a police commissioner (Anupam Kher) and an anonymous caller (Naseeruddin Shah) demanding the release of four heinous terrorists. The film has an engrossing screenplay that makes you wait for the next scene with bated breath! No matter how hard you try, you will not be able predict the climax, which calls for some introspection and opens up several topics for discussion. Neeraj Pandey is the writer-director of this wonderful film. With great ingenuity, the director has spaced and sequenced the films scenes so carefully that the suspense keeps building up till the end, and just when you think it is all over, the climax brings in an unexpected twist!
No wonder it has appealed to Kamal Haasan so much! We do hope this rumour turns into a reality soon. It would be great to watch Kamal Haasan in such a good film!

Mammootty to team up with Kamal?
Kamal Haasan, whose most ambitious project yet Marmayogi has been shelved at least for the time being, first seemed to be decided on doing a comedy with himself pairing with stars like Mohanlal, Rishi Kapoor and Venkatesh. And then, recently came reports that the Ulaganayakan has taken a liking for the Hindi film, which has Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in key roles. The reports stated that Kamal was going to take up the re-make A Wednesday as his next project.
The latest buzz is that Kamal will be doing the role played by Naseeruddin Shah in the original, and Mammootty will be playing the role of the commissioner of police, which was played by Anupam Kher in the original. It's also learnt that Mammootty has given his nod for the role.

and there is a strong report by one P V SHibu about the media syndicate with solid evidence - how the media esp asianet tries to spread an impression that each and every project of mlal is a huge hit.
he also rightly mentions the way media handles perosnal allegations/ attacks. remember during munnar drama everyday youth cong leader came out with silly petty allegations against Ikka every channel aired it in prime time. but when there were widespread allegations (truths) about kurukshethra and its financier being sabarinath not a single channel dared to even mention the reports.

Mammootty ends 2008 on a happy note
"As always, I worked with utmost dedication and commitment and I am happy with the returns," Mammootty told IANS.
In his first release of the year "Roudram", Mammootty played a cop and in "Twenty 20" the actor was seen as a lawyer. His other releases were "Annan Thampi", "Paranuthu" and "Maya Bazaar".
While "Paranthu" and "Maya Bazaar" didn't do well at the box office, the success of other three films helped the veteran actor to remain on top seat.
But the superstar says his biggest achievement this year is that he completed two films - "Pazhazzi Raja" and "Kuttishrank".
"The shooting schedules of 'Pazhazzi Raja' and 'Kuttishrank' are over and I'm really excited and happy because I have high hopes from both the films. They will be released in 2009," said Mammootty.
Asked about a New Year resolution, he said: "I know only one job and that is acting and I will continue to do that."
Although he gave hits, he didn't receive any awards this year, but the actor is unperturbed.
"Haven't I told you many times that I take pride in my job and I would continue to do it the way I have done it all these years. I am not worried about other things," he said.
The superstar is off to Dubai Monday to attend the Dubai International Film Festival where his film "Orae Kadal" is being screened.

there are lots of letters exposing mlalfilms' common strategy - 17th day poster on6th day. 55th day poster on 35th day, etc, etc.

20: 20 continues to rule the box-office
Produced by Dileep's 'Graand Productions' for AMMA, Twenty Twenty, directed by Joshiy continues to draw crowds to the theatres across the state. Released on the 5th of November, this multi-starrer flick featuring almost all the prominent stars of Malayalam continues steadily in all centres. Scripted by Udayakrishna and Sibi K. Thomas, 'Twenty Twenty' has managed to make a gross collection of over Rs. 80 Lakhs in just three weeks.
The Akku Akbar-directed Veruthe Oru Bharya, released in the first week of August, still continues to maintain its stand at the box office as a family hit. The film, starring Jayaram and Gopika in lead roles, recently celebrated 125 days of successful run. Scripted by K. Gireesh Kumar, Veruthe Oru Bharya offers nothing new in terms of the story, and may even be called 'old wine in new bottle'. But since the film has been neatly packaged as a decent family entertainer, it found takers with the family audience. Moreover, Pyramid Saimira, the distributors of the film, have been taking care to market the film with utmost care and zest. The film has brought in a gross collection of over Rs.55 Lakhs.
The Major Ravi-directed Mohanlal-starrer Kurukshetra, based on the Kargil War, had won over the hearts of film-lovers all over Kerala as a well-made war film. Of course people exposed to Hollywood and Bollywood war movies might not have liked 'Kurukshetra', but the director had made the film as neatly as he could by remaining within the budget constraints of Malayalam Cinema. The film, shot on locations in Kargil, has brought in a gross of about Rs.42 Lakhs in 50 days.
