The Vishu and Summer so far shows one of the worst periods of Malayalam cinema.where not even a single film can be called outstanding in quality . With just 3 box office successes from 29-odd releases. The report card brings out some alarming facts. Plagiarism has hit Malayalam films in a big way, and creativity has taken the backseat. The top five in the vishu so far have been:

2-Harihar Nagar
'2 Harihar Nagar', the sequel of 'In Harihar Nagar' is becoming a rage among Malayalam cinema audience. The movie is taken the astounding opening. Still it has taken full houses and continuing very strong in all releasing centers with huge gross 8.75 crore in 25 days . And more interestingly, family audience has taken this movie already and nothing less than a Blockbuster is expected. After many expected films failed to impress audience, this rollicking entertainer gives them a sigh of relief for malayalam cinema

BhagyaDevatha
As far as box office success is concerned, BhagyaDevatha tops the second spot . Though Satyan Anthikad showed reluctance to move out of his own tried and tested formula of feel-good family sagas, his bhagydevetha unleashed some freshness on screen. The movie portrayed the life of people in Kuttanad backdrop, is running Housefull in all releasing centres across Kerala.

Sagar Alias jacky
Another commercial venture. Sagar Alias Jacky was perhaps one of the most eagerly awaited movies in recent times and the film did superb intial in first weeks but doesn't sustain in long .The movie had a certain amount of freshness, but with a poor scripts & story, director Amal Neerad still away from the the success with his second effort. The projected action mood turned women audiences away from the theatres as well. The film did only average business at the box office.

IG -Inspector General

IG-The action suspense thriller that explores the life of a police officer had made a decent collection of 2 cores in 7 days. The story and situations are all 'old wine in new bottle, like a usual potboiler of Suresh Gopi movies but Unikrishan's crispy direction make average business in boxoffice.

Moss & Cat
After five long years, veteran hitmaker Fazil comes back to Mollywood with Dileep in the name of Moss and Cat, also Rahman and debutant Aswathy Ashok in the lead roles, released on Easter Day in 70 to 80 screens worldwide. This is the first time Dileep is the leading man in a Fazil movie. A family entertainer with comedy and suspense, the film is scripted by Fazil himself but movie turned out to be a colossal flop due to poor script and un predictable story.

Samasthakeralam P.O
How long Malayalam cinema will sustain upon crap comedies which is nothing but a rehash of rehashes which includes political family drama.Jayaram's Vishu release 'Samasthakeralam P.O ', was another damb squib which fell flat on April. The film makes a forced run in a lone center in the capital city.
