B Unnikrishnan not to continue as FEFCA Gen. Secretary
Director B Unnikrishnan would not be continuing as the General Secretary of FEFCA any more.
Unnikrishnan made his decision clear at the General Body meeting of the association that was held at Kochi.
He said he was resigning from the post since he believed that an association should not centre around an individual. He also added that he would continue to be an active member of the association.
Unnikrishnan had been involved in the activities of FEFCA, and had recently been involved in a controversy regarding a spat that the association had with actor Thilakan.
Meanwhile 'Pramaani', Unnikrishnan's latest film that released last week has evoked a mixed response at the box office.

After Pazhassi, its Karnan
After the magnanimous success of 'Pazhassiraja', their team behind the movie is once again coming together for another big flick.
Tentatively titled as 'Karnan', veteran director Hariharan will once again use the acting talents of Megastar Mammootty and Supreme star of Tamil, Sarath Kumar, for the movie. The movie will be another big budget flick produced by Gokulam Gokulan.
Now planned as an offering for Onam, the details about the crew and cast are awaited.

A trend setting Mammootty
Even before the new Mammootty movie 'Pokkiri Raja' is out to theatres, the young generation of Kerala has taken a liking to the walrus moustache that the actor is presenting through the movie.
The youth who has seen the styling of the moustache in film websites and magazines, has started experimenting with the similar moustache style and is out to college campuses with the new patterns.
Mammootty had always been instrumental in presenting some new style element through each of his films. Even his commercial disasters movies carried something for his fans to admire and follow. And this from his ''Punk'' styles of 'Artham' which came out in 1990, the actor is dictating the fashion formulas to the youth of Kerala, that too for long as 25 years. A big feat indeed, Mammookka, the last word in fashion statement in Mollywood.
Meanwhile, the shooting for the movie 'Pokkiri Raja' has been shifted to Pollachi for the final schedule. The movie directed by Vysakh and produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam of Mulakupadam films, will get into theatres by the last week of April.

IBN live review of pramani:3/5:Mammootty's 'Pramani' is worth watching

A neatly narrated political subject within the format of a mainstream entertainer – that's the best one can say about Pramani, a Mammootty movie that hit the silver screen on March 26.
Directed and scripted by B Unnikrishnan, the movie shows the contemporary political and social issues that prevent overall development of villages, especially in Kerala.
The protagonist, Viswanathan Panicker (Mammootty), is president of the Thazhe Keezhpadam Gram Panchayat in Kerala. He is always interested in accumulating wealth through corruption. The villagers call Panicker 'America' for his special interest in getting involved in others' issues, and taking away all the credit and money.
Panicker knows every rule and regulation, and believes that 'one must have a thorough knowledge about law and jurisdiction to break it!' His cousin Somashekharan (Siddique) always helps Panicker in his 'governance'.
Although Castro Vareed (Janardhanan), the president of the nearby Panchayat, tries to bring an end to the 'American' rule, Panicker wins all the battles with political and muscle power.
However, at a certain point in his life, Panicker turns away from sin and tries to mend his ways. He then has to face a real tough time from all corners.
The story may sound oft-repeated – a satire on the kind of Panchayat politics that we often know from media and watch in films – but the way it has been narrated and presented ensures that Pramani is worth watching.
It must also be mentioned that the script has done wonders for the film. Unnikrishnan has tried his best to put in elements that will woo the family audiences, as summer vacations starts this weekend.
Certainly, Mammootty steals the show. Though there was not much scope for the character, Mammootty has been very loyal to the role. As usual, his dialogue, presentation and screen presence are just perfect.
Tamil actor Prabhu has done a small but ineluctable role of Panicker's close friend and godfather in politics, Varkey. The others who deserve mention are Siddique, Janardhanan and Lakshmi – they have ensured that their respective characters help the movie to keep its tempo.
Interestingly, unlike the usual south Indian films, there is no romance in this film between the male and female lead characters. The heroine Janaki (Sneha) has been portrayed as the Panchayat Secretary who helps Panicker to mend his ways.
Overall, barring the usual climax and some weak comedy scenes, Unnikrishnan has done a good job as the director, eliciting excellent performances out of all artistes.
Though a normal story, Pramani is technically sound in all ways. Cinematography (by Shamdat), editing (Manoj) and art direction (by Joseph Nellikkal) have all been handled well. The songs, written by Gireesh Puthencherry and composed by M Jayachandran, are average.
Pramani is definitely a simple movie, but shot without losing its objectivity.

Mammootty to be an IT genius in 'Amar Akbar Antony'
Actor Jagadeesh, who has been real busy of late, with multiple assignments, would be for the first time donning the role of the director for the film 'Amar Akbar Antony'.
'Amar Akbar Antony' would have Megastar Mammootty doing three different roles. In all probability, he would be playing an IT genius, who appears in three different get-ups in the film.
The film would be one that utilizes the acting potentials of the megastar to the maximum. The story, script and dialogues would be by the director himself. 'Amar Akbar Antony' would be produced by Ajayachandran Nair.
Jagadeesh's latest film 'In Ghost House Inn' is running successfully at the theatres right now. He would also have another release in April titled 'April Fool'. Besides acting and directing, Jagadeesh is also busy as the chief host of the hit programme Vodafone Comedy Stars on Asianet.

Mammootty impresses Anthony Bourdain
Discovery Travel and Living's host Anthony Bourdain and his team had quite the experience on Wednesday. When they found out about Mammootty being one of the biggest names in the South Indian film industry, they tried to fix a meeting with him on the sets of his movie, Pokkiri Raja.

Mammootty was honoured and was very warm and hospitable with his guests. He also shared some of the home-made dishes like 'puttu' and 'meen curry' which he had with him.
He answered all the questions that the team asked him about Kerala with patience. Antony was interested more in the food habits of the shooting crew and the stunt artists. Antony's crew recorded the activities that were on at the sets of Mammootty's show. The team left for their routine after being wowed by Mammootty and director Vysakh's humility.

In the film, Mammootty will be playing an IT genius with three different looks. The movie is expected to tap the star's acting abilities to the most. Produced by Ajayachandran Nair, the story, script and dialogues will be penned by Jagadeesh himself.

Vaishakh plans his next
Vaishakh, who started big commercial films with the recent mammootty-prithvi movie 'Pokkiri Raja' will team up with superstar Mammootty for his next venture. The movie which is planned to be on the scripts of Benny .p. Nayaramabalam will have the megastar in the role of a goonda turned politician in the backdrop of humor.

As soon as i reached the theatre, I noticed prominent personalities- Director B.Unnikrishnan, ScriptWriter Benny P Narayambalam, Producer Noushad and rest of the fans eagerly waiting for the megastar to arrive. Mammootty reached the theatre by 11.30 and distributed the 1st 10 tickets to respective people, followed by a small speech on his character in Pramani and left. Even though he was there only for around 15 minutes, we had a cracking time. I spoke with B. Unnikrishnan and gave him an "All the best" before entering the theatre hall.
Pramani is B.Unnikrishnan' s another offering on the lines of Madambi in terms of characterization and presentation. Pramani is all about a Panchayath President,Viswanath a Panicker( Mammootty) nicknamed as America, who is cunning and rescues everyone , but at the same time traps them by squeezing their 'pramanams'. Here comes Suresh Krishna who plans to set up an IT Hub in the Panchayath and bribes Panicker to clear the hurdles. After agreeing to the commitment initially, Panicker changes his mind. This transformation results into rivalrly against Soman(Siddique) ,who is Panicker's brother, and sets up the clash against each other.
What makes the movie engaging is undoubtedly Mammootty's one man show as Vishwantha Panicker. The megastar is at his ease in delivering sharp dialogues, emoting sentiments and looks charismatic throughout the movie. Sneha as Panchaya Secratary reminds us the character Kavya played in Madambi. Though repetitive,Siddique was good so as veteran actress Lekshmi,while Janardhan, Suraj, Salim Kumar, Suresh Krishna were as usual. Prabhu's cameo was ok.
B. Unnikrishnan' s script and direction is predictable, but the dialogues were well written. M.Jayachandran' s music and BGM fits well within the movie. Editing was slick as the duration is just around 2 hr 15 min. Pramani is neither a boring movie nor a fresh attempt as B.Unnikrishnan played safe by including all the necessary ingredients to make it a simple entertainer.
On the whole, Pramani is fairly watchable movie that will please the fans and family audiences. Even though there is nothing new, there is nothing wrong in going for a watch.

Discovery 'Travel and Living' crew floored by Mammootty
Discovery Channel's 'Travel and Living' programme's host Anthony Bourdain and his crew were left floored at their recent visit to Kerala.
The man who charmed them over with his personality was none other than the Megastar of Malayalam films, Mammootty.
Anthony Bourdain paid a special visit to the sets of 'Pokkiri Raja' at Cochin, where he was treated to the exquisite cuisine of Kerala. Mammootty shared the Puttu and meen curry that was brought for him with the host and his crew.
Anthony Bourdain had several questions to ask about the delicacies of Kerala, which were promptly answered by Mammootty. Mammootty also reminded him that coconut was a prime ingredient in all Kerala dishes.
Anthony Bourdain reportedly left the sets of 'Pokkiri Raja' very impressed, not just with the delicious food that the state had to offer, but also with the hospitality of one of its biggest film stars.

'Doubles' to start after Mammootty returns from the US
Director Sohan Seenulal is all excited about his project 'Doubles', the music recording of which was recently held.
The shooting of the film that stars Mammootty would start once the star has finished his month long holiday in the US.
Apart from Mammootty, 'Doubles' would also feature Nadiya Moithu, in a role that would equal that of the hero. Mammootty and Nadiya would play siblings in the film, named Giri and Gouri.
The film would have music by James Vasanth who had rocked the music charts last year with his 'Kankal Irandral' number in 'Subrahmaniyapuram'. 'Doubles' would be the music director's first film in Malayalam. James said that he was extremely happy to be making his debut in Malayalam films through a Mammootty film.
Scripted by Sachi and Sethu, 'Doubles' would have a new face Tapasya doing a chief role. Biju Menon, Suraj Venjarammoodu and Anoop Chandran would also be a part of the cast.
The impressive star cast and the highly talented technical crew make 'Doubles' one of the most promising films of the year.

Our ambassador Mammootty quite young: South Indian Bank
The South Indian Bank (SIB) does not consider 56-year-old Malayali superstar Mammootty as an ageing brand ambassador.
SIB managing director and chief executive officer VA Joseph said on Tuesday that the bank was more than 81 years old and hence for it Mammootty is "quite young".
"We are the only bank in South India which has a brand ambassador. Through Mammootty we have received a huge boost. Every time I go to Middle East, there are numerous requests at our customer meetings, to bring Mammootty for one such meeting," said Joseph.
On Tuesday, the SIB inked an agreement with Hatton National Bank (HNB), the largest private sector bank in Sri Lanka, for exchange of expertise and services.
Rajendra Theagarajah, managing director of HNB who signed the MoU, said Mammootty is popular in Sri Lanka too. "We are fortunate to have a new tie-up with the SIB, whose brand ambassador is none other than Mammootty," he said.
Mammootty said, "The initial contract with the SIB was for three years. It has now been extended for another five years."

BSNL launches 3G services with MAMMOOTTY
Kochi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched its 3G services in Ernakulam SSA (secondary switching area) with Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas answering a mobile phone video call from actor Mammootty.
Mr.Thomas, too, made a video call to P. Rajeev, MP, who was sharing the dais with him. A screen was arranged by BSNL to demonstrate how a video call is made.
