Mammootty’s long wait to vote

Mega cine-star Mammootty had a very different experience this time, when he went to vote in his No 86 booth in a school at Eelamkulam, in Ernakulam on Thursday morning.

The actor who was rushing his way from the sets of his latest film 'Daddy Cool', to cast his vote and complete his statutory duty as a citizen was astonished to find that the officers in the polling booth refused to identify him without the mandatory electoral identification card.

The superstar came out of the booth, called his home and waited for another twenty minutes to receive his ID. This provided great opportunity for newsman around who had a chat with him with their cameras on. The fans and people around the star grew in big numbers within minutes to such an extent that the officials even feared that this may affect the polling process in the booth.

In the midst of this hungama, the polling officers asked Mammootty to come up to cast the vote even without the card, but the megastar patiently refused them saying that his experience will remind other people that before coming to vote they must ensure that they have their voters ID with them. This most famous Malayalee, there after told the newsman that their is nothing wrong with the happenings and that every citizen must exercise their franchise before starting to criticise the system.
