Mammootty's latest offering Maganum Opus ‘Pazhassi Raja' has broken all the existing BO records of Malayalam films in terms of collections, Channel Rights and DVD Rights
The film has grossed around 15.7 crores from Kerala in 45 days run, while creating new collection records in many of the centers. The film produced by Mr Gokulam Gopalan has collected another 4.5 crores from the overseas in its last 45 days run. Latest buzz says that Moserbaer has taken Pazhassi Raja's home video right for 62 lakhs and also brings out a new format called “Blue ray”, which is first time in Malayalam.There is an uncofirmed news that HBO is planing for a deal worth Rs 18.5 crores for this big budget movie.
The film which was released with biggest hype and with around 400 prints lived up to its expectations and is acknowledged as the biggest hit of Mammootty in his 30 year old career. The film has made 2.7 crores from three metros in its 45days run.
While it amassed around one crore from capital city itself, where it was released in four big screens, the non Malayalam centers in South like Bangalore offered 22 lakhs as its first week pull.
