Gopika back with Mammootty

Gopika who had a big hit last year pairing with Mammootty for 'Maayavi', is now again called in to share the lead with the super star for the Vishu film 'Annan Thambi'. The film in which Mammootty is donning a double role, will also have 'Rock N Roll' fame Lakshmi Rai as the other heroine. The request to be in the role came from the director Anwar Rasheed, who had already started shooting for this movie for a couple of weeks. This role was earlier ear marked for another Tamil actress, who had got some last minute problems to be on the movie.

Gopika will be also seen as Mammootty’s pair in the AMMA'a multi starrer, which will start its third schedule shooting by the second week of March.

Apart from this, Gopika’s new project includes 'Verutha Oru Bharya' which have Jayaram as the hero. The actress had already completed another movie 'Malabar Wedding' with Indrajith and co in the lead, which is her sixteenth project in Mollywood.

The Rajamanickam team of Mammootty and director Anwar Rashid is back with Annan Thambi, story of twin brothers who are fiercely opposed to each other.Mammootty plays the twins Appu and Achu, who are born with a difference of 90 seconds, one guy grow to be a henchman of a 'dada' in Pollachi the other guy runs a drama troupe back home. One day Appu comes home to take on Achu, and the action and fun begins.


Annan Thambi will see Mammootty playing a dual role after a long time and Anwar Rashid is making it as a rollicking action comedy film. Lakshmi Rai and Priyanka are the two heroines in the film, which also has a huge star cast of comedians like Harisri Asokhan, Salim Kumar, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, Biju Kuttan among others. The shooting is in progress at Pollachi

The film has music by Rahul Raj, and is written by hit maker Benny.P Nairambalam. Marakkar films are producing the film which will be Mammootty's Vishu (April 14) release.

Annan Thampi Starts at Pollachi.


Mammootty's Vishu Block booster film 'Annan Thampi' starts its shooting at Pollachi. The films which feature the super star in double roles also have two heroines, one of them presented by 'Rock N Roll' fame Lakhmi Rai. Mammootty who is presently in the sets of ‘Pazhassi Raja’ will join the film by this week end, to complete this movie in a single schedule. Directed by Anwar Rasheed who delivered the star, the biggest hit in his career in 'Rajamaannikyam', the film tells the story of two brothers with extremely different attitudes and characters.

At present, the director is shooting the flashback sequences of the childhood of superstar Mammootty, with two twin child artists, t en-year-old Sonu and Monu who were selected after a search of many weeks, screening 157 pairs of twins. The movie is scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam, who had been with the star to create hits like ‘Thommanum Makkalum’ and ‘Pothen Vava’.

Suman in Malayalam

The Sivaji villain Suman was impressive when he played perfect foil to superstar Rajnikanth. Now he is playing villain to Malayalam megastar Mammootty in Hariharan's epic Pazhaasi Raja. Suman is playing the role of the arch villain Pazhaiveetan Chandu in Pazhassi Raja, and is pitted against Mammootty and Sarath Kumar in the film. Suman a black belt holder has studied Kalaripayattu (sword fencing Kerala style) for the film under experts from the famous C.V.N Kalari. The noted stunt man Thyagarajan Master is the action director of the film and he was very impressed with Suman's scenes.

Says Suman: " It is a honour to work with Malayalam's best known script director M.T.Vasudevan Nair and internationally reputed director like Hariharan. In Malayalam the script is of paramount interest, and even though I'm doing a character with shades of grey in Pazhaasi Raja, my role is well etched and gives me an opportunity to perform along with an artist of Mammookka's caliber." Pazhassi Raja is the costliest Malayalam film ever made and is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan. The shooting of the film is now going on in Kanjhangad and other areas in North Malabar.
Mammootty joins 'Vande Matharam'

After completing 'Raudram' which is his next release scheduled for January 26, Mammootty has joined the sets of 'Vande Matharam'. The film which also features Tamil actor Arjun, Sneha and Rajan P Dev tells a patriotic investigative story This bilingual movie which is also made in Tamil in the title 'Aruvadai' will get released by the second week of February. Produced by Henry, the film will have a few more Sequences to shoot before getting completed.

After Vande Matharam, Mammootty is planning to join the fourth schedule of 'Pazhassi Raja' directed by Hariharan in the scripts of MT Vasudevan Nair. This magnum opus will be highest budgeted movie to be made in Malayalam.
