Superstar Suresh Gopi has confessed that having missed the opportunity to act in 'Pazhassi Raja' would always be a loss for him.
Suresh Gopi said that he couldn't act in the film due to personal reasons, and that he still wouldn't do the film even if his late father asks him to.
The actor also said that he is guilty of having declined an offer that was put forward by Hariharan and M T Vasudevan Nair.
Suresh Gopi however did not make it clear what exactly was the reason behind his not acting in the film.

'Doubles' from this October
Mammootty will start shooting for his new project 'Doubles' from this October. Featuring Megastar Mammootty and Nadiya Moidu as siblings, the movie will have an unique story scripted by Sachi-Sethu.
Scheduled to be shot at Goa and Pondichery, debutant director Sohan Seenulal will call the shots for this movie. 'Subramaniapuram' fame James Vasanthan is the music director of this movie which will be produced by K K Narayandas under the banner of 'Dreams on Wheels'. A new face to Mollywood, Tapasya will be the heroine to Mammootty in this movie which will be completed in a single schedule of shooting.
Mammootty will complete his portions in 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' and the 'Best Actor' before he joins 'Doubles'.

Mammootty's 'Doubles' to start in Goa in October!
The shooting of 'Doubles' that stars Mammootty and Nadia Moidu in key roles would start in October in Goa.
Another major location of the film would be Pondicherry.
The film would have Mammootty and Nadia Moidu playing siblings. Tapasya would be Mammootty's heroine in the film. Mammootty has allotted forty five days for the film.

Satellite rights of 'Christian Brothers' haven't been sold: Producer
Producer Subair, who has produced the multistarrer 'Christian Brothers' said that the satellite rights of the film haven't been yet sold.
Recently it was reported that Asianet has been sold the satellite rights of the film for a record price of three crores.
Subair however made clear that the television channels have considerably lessened the amount to be given for acquiring the satellite rights. Hence the rights of the film haven't been sold as yet, he said.

FilmFare awards 2009 for the south indian movies will take place on August 7th at Nehru Stadium at Chennai. The winners will be selected by a special jury based on the results of polls participated by viewers across India. Bhagyadevatha, Bhramaram, Ividam Swargamanu, Paleri Manikyam and Pazhassi Raja have received nominations for the Best Malayalam movie. Blessy, Hariharan, Ranjith Sankar and Syamaprasad are nominated for the Best director award. Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, Prithviraj and Dileep received nominations for the Best Actor and Gopika, Kaniha, Mamtha, Priyanka and Swetha Menon are in the nomination list for the Best Actress award.Mammootty is the winner from Mollywood (Not officially declared)
Exclusive- Television channels cripple M & M!
A few days back there was news that Joshy's multi-starrer Christian Brothers with Mohanlal, Dileep and Sarath Kumar has been sold for Rs 3 crore to a leading Malayalam channel.
When we contacted producer Subair, he denied it vehemently. Says Subair: "A section of the media had reported that we sold Christian Brothers for Rs 3 crore to a leading television channel, it is totally false. The channels are refusing to pay that kind of money any longer, so we have decided to hold back the rights till the film is released."
All television channels in Kerala have come together and buried their differences and formed an association. As far as movie acquisition is concerned, they have drawn out a strict policy. Henceforth the maximum amount they will pay for a Mammootty or Mohanlal film is Rs 1.75 crore, and they will not go for a bidding war among themselves.
The market leaders Asianet and Suriya, with deep pockets have been raising the price of Malayalam satellite rights over the months, as they were involved in a fierce bidding war and a mad rush to buy new titles. Now they themselves have formed a cartel to beat the producers and the stars at their own game.
It has come as a major blow to Mammootty and Mohanlal, as their films satellite rights used to fetch nearly 50 to 55 percent of the films market value. Now the channels have truly clipped the wings of M and M, leading to a situation where producers have deserted them. Earlier a producer could start an M and M film if he had their dates, depending on a 40 to 50 percent advance from the channels as television rights.
Take for instance Mohanlal's forthcoming releases- Shikar, Kandahar, Casanova, all of them are going to be distributed by the star's own distribution arm Max Lab. In the case of Mammootty too all his immediate releases like Pranchiyettan and the Saint, Best Actor, King and Commissioner are going to reach the theatre through his distribution and production company Play House. Earlier the stars salary ranging between Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.25 Crore depended a lot on the satellite rights.
A spokesperson of a leading television channel said: "Why should we go on feeding M and M, when their films satellite rights at the price we brought earlier were not commercially viable? We have decided among ourselves that we will have a maximum price for their films beyond which we will not negotiate. We also save a lot of interest if we buy after release, and also the real value of the product is known after release."

Mammootty to distribute the drama competition awards in memory of Rajan P Dev in Angamaly
Today's Indian Express and channels yesterday reported this.
The seven-day-long drama competition will be inaugurated by actors Suresh Gopi and Dileep. The first drama will be Pala Communications's Madhuram Ente Jeevitham.
The other dramas will be staged at Angamaly CSA auditorium at 6 p.m. on other days.The competitions will conclude on August 4, foundation general secretary Jubin Raj said.
Fisheries Minister S Sarma will be chief guest at the valedictory function at Angamaly on August 9.
Actor Mammootty will distribute the awards for Best Drama (Rs. 20,000), Best Direction (Rs. 10,000), Best Script writing (Rs. 10,000), Best Actor and Actress (Rs. 5,000 each).

Nayantara to be Basheer's Narayani!
Nayantara who had recently completed Shyamaprasad's 'Electra', would be soon seen in Malayalam again.
Nayan has signed up 'Mathilukalkkappruam', to be directed by Prasad.
The film is a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan's celebrated film 'Mathilukal'. Mammootty would play the role of Basheer again in the film, while Nayantara would give life to Narayani, the 'voice on the other side of the wall'.
'Mathilukalkkappuram' is expected to be a break through for Nayantara, who gradually seems to be making the right choices in Malayalam films.

'Kerala Cafe' at Stuttgart Fest
Last year's Malayalam film 'Kerala Cafe' , an amalgamation of ten short movies from ten different directors of Mollywood cinema, brought together by Renjith, was selected for Indian Film Festival - 'Bollywood & Beyond' at Stuttgart, Germany.
The movie will also compete for the German Star of India Award, the Audience Award and the Director's Vision Award in the festival. Anjali Menon, one among the ten directors of the film will attend the festival to answer the Q&A session, after the screening of the movie.
The festival will also feature another South Indian movie Gautham Menon's 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' in the same section.

Saw KS from TVM Kripa...Status Balcony was almost full..
About film..In one word Outstanding !!!! ...
Frankly i went to watch this film without much expectation..But now i am overjoyed after watching such a brilliant art work..I wonder why this film release was delayed so much..Its not like usual ikka masala films FDFS..Most people were very quite while watching the movie..But everybody enjoyed the movie i am sure..Mammukka has protrayed 3 different styles in superb manner..Direction and camera work is of superior quality..Heroins Padmapriya,Kamalini and kaali did a wonderful job..Kamalini looks so beautiful..Kutty sranks life in these 3 different heroines view were narrated really well.All the supporting actors did their part really well...Sai,Siddiq,Suresh krishna etc did a good job..Usually the bore element associated with these kinda films was not there..Yes u will feel film is little slow here n there..But its natural in these kinda movies...U will not get bored if you love serious cinema..I would rate mammukkas performance in this film as one of the top in recent times..Director shaji utilised mammukka really well..I liked the songs really well...
I am not expecting any big box office collection..and i dont care about it..Even mammukka knows how much these genre of films can collect on box office..Thats the greatness of ikka..He do all kinda films without thinking about BO performance..Films like Pokkiri Raja for the mass and KS for the serious good film lovers..Hats off to ikka..I want ikka to do these kinda films more..If you are real fan of mammukka you should watch it..I would say even the hardcore mohanlal fans(who likes serious cinema) will like this one very much..If these kind of films get a good run in the BO we will get back the quality of malayalam cinema..

Kutty Srank is Mammootty's show all the way
We always rue the fact that the aesthetic quality of Malayalam cinema has deteriorated to unimaginable levels.
There may be a few genuine reasons for them; one being the parallel cinema movement where film-makers aim only for critical recognition of their work and awards without thinking about the common man or commercial success.
There were a lot of mediocre films that fell into this category of filmmaking which sounded the death knell for Malayalam cinema in general and the parallel movement in particular.
However, there are a few directors who have stuck to the original values of the olden days by producing work of quality. Director Shaji N Karun is one such person whose Kutty Srank starring Mammootty harks back to the olden days.
The film is about a character whose story is told from three different perspectives by three woman he was involved in different stages of his life.
The pivot of the narrative is Srank, and women narrate their experiences with him after he is found dead by the police. Revamma (Padma Priya) is the first to tell her story. She tells about his violent streak when he worked as a servant in her father's house. Revamma is a graduate in medicine from Ceylon, but who refuses to join her father's hospital and wishes to take up Buddhism as a rebellion against her father. Srank had supposedly killed her mother when she was a child.
Up next is Pemmena (Kamalinee Mukherjee) who reveals the social revolutionary side of Srank. How he takes on a priest of an orthodox church who is against the freedom of creative expression. Srank, who is an orphan, does not believe in God. Still, he is given the role of the main lead in the play to be performed during the annual festival of the church which irks the priest and his staunch followers.
The third one is Kali [ Images ] (Meena Kumari) a mute lady who is supposed to be a bad omen by the villagers. She is four months pregnant with Srank's child when she narrates her story of how Srank protected her from the hostile villagers.
We may have seen many stories using this kind of narrative technique. But here the main flaw is that there is no element of surprise or shock employed. It solely depends on Mammootty's skills to pull it off. There may be not much difference in his physical appearance in the three parts but he differentiates the between the three through his mannerisms and dialogue delivery.
Of the three female leads; Padmapriya [ Images ] is dependable as usual. Though she does not have any extraordinary lines or demanding scenes, she still makes her presence felt. The other two actresses -- Kamalinee Mukherjee and Meena Kumari -- have better scope of showing off their histrionic capabilities.
Kutty Srank, Shaji Karun's latest offering may be layered in its narrative techniques but still it depends on Mammootty the actor and may not be for the casual viewer.
Nayantara in 'Mathilukal' sequel
Nayantara who is passing through a lean phase in her career, will be back in Mollywood with a couple of big projects. She has already completed the hyped 'Electra' with director Shyamaprasad in which she plays the important role. The movie also features Prakash Raj and Manisha Koirala as her parents.
The other important new project to come her way is 'Mathilukalkkappruam' which is a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan's celebrated film 'Mathilukal'. It will be directed by debutante Prasad. Prasad will continue with Basheer's story from where Adoor left.
Nayantara will be in the role of Narayani, the unseen woman prisoner on the other side of the prison wall in the original. Mammootty will once again come up as Basheer. The movie is expected to give some of the best moments of the lead actors in Malayalam cinema.
Earlier, Vidya Balan was said to be debuting in Malayalam with this film. Now it seems Nayantara has replaced her. Ravi K Chandran will be the cameraman and sound directions will be by Oscar winning Resul Pookutty. Mammootty's production company Playhouse is producing this film.

Shaji N Karun for corporates
"It is of no truth in saying that the entry of corporates into film making is not good for the film industry. I could do a film like 'Kutty Sharanku' only because of the funding and the faith that Reliance Big Pictures had on me", says Shaji N Karun, the world renowned film maker. He was talking on the audio release function of 'Kutty Sharanku', his movie with Megastar Mammootty which got into theatres today. 'Kutty Sharanku' is the first production venture of Reliance Big Picture in Malayalam.
Planned as a grand function by Manorama Music at Joyce Place, Thrissur, the audio release of the movie was done by Mammootty giving the first copy to Father Joseph Valiyaveettil. The audio album will also feature a song sung by Mammootty for the film, under the directions of its music director Issac Thomas Kottukapally.
Meanwhile, Reliance has also managed to get a very good release for the movie at 38 centres in the state. When considered it as an art house movie, this is a quite a big number as the movies in the genre usually opens in less than 15-20 centres in the state.

A special preview show of 'Kutty Srank' that has been directed by renowned director Shaji N Karun, was held at Kairali theatre in Trivandrum.
After the show, the audience expressed their appreciation of the film with a thundering applause.
The film that stars Mammootty, showcases three phases in the life of a sailor, when he assumes the roles of Rakshakan, Mochakan and Shikshakan.
There are three heroines in the film; Padmapriya, Kamalini Mukherjee and Meena Kumari.
After the show, the audience expressed their appreciation of the film with a thundering applause.

Priyamani joins Pranchiyettan and the Saint
After her holiday in the US, National award winning actress Priyamani has joined the sets of Renjith-directed Pranchiyettan and the Saint in Thrissur. The actress had given 18 days call sheet for the film. Shooting began in the first week of July and will be completed in a single schedule. This Malayalam film stars Mammootty in the lead.
In Pranchiyettan and the Saint, Mammootty plays a rice merchant Francis (Pranchiyettan) from Trichur, while Innocent will appear as the saint. Veteran Tamil actress Khushbu plays a meaty role, while Priya plays the role of a modern girl. The film will be Mammootty's Ramzan release.

Urumi launched in style
Santosh Sivan and Prithviraj's production company 'August Cinema', launched their first film Urumi a tri-lingual period film in Malayalam, Tamil & English.
Mammootty, was the chief guest at the function held at Dream Hotel in Kochi on Friday, July 16, the last day of Mithunam, before the inauspicious month of Karkkkadakam starts. Mammookka lighted the traditional lamp, in the presence of Prithvi's mom Malika Sukumaran.
Mammootty was all praise for "his younger brother of Pokkiri Raja" and showered praises on him. Director Renjith who discovered Prithviraj in his speech said: "Prithviraj had an air ticket in his pocket when we started Nandanam, as he wanted to go back to Australia to continue his studies. However after the release, this handsome dude straight away walked into the heart's of Malayalee girls!"

Prithviraj who is today the fastest rising star in Malayalam cinema said : "Through Urumi we are trying to uplift Malayalam cinema to the international level." Santosh Sivan said that the film will be shot in Kerala and later in the forest areas of Malshej Ghat, Maharashtra, where Santosh and Prithviraj shot the climax of Raavanan.
The cream among Malayalam directors Joshy, Renjith, Blessy, Siby Malayil, Kamal, Lenin Rajendran, Shaji Kailas, Lal, Viji Thampy,Renji Panikkar, producers Gokulam Gopalan, Liberty Basheer, actors Manian Pillai Raju, Indrajith, KPAC Lalitha and Kaviyoor Ponamma were present to wish Prithviraj and Santosh.
Lal Jose for a cameo
Top Malayalam director Lal Jose had recently been the anchor of a TV show, which taught the viewers the aesthetics of movie making. Lal Jose had also shown his intentions to be on frames in some films like 'Rock and Roll'. The actor will be seen once again on screen in the new Mammootty movie 'Best Actor' directed by Martin Prakkat.
He will be coming up as real life director who test the acting skills of the protagonist of the movie played by Mammootty. The director who took a day off from his new flick, 'Elsamma Enna Anakutty', completed his work in the movie in a day.
The navigator of hearts
After being screened in a number of international festivals winning laurels, world renowned filmmaker Shaji N Karun's latest film 'Kutty Sharanku' will start its screening in Kerala theatres by the end of this week. An offering from Reliance Entertainment, the movie features Megastar Mammootty in three different get ups as the title character.
The life of 'Kutty Sharanku' is narrated through the viewpoints of three ladies, played by Padmapriya, Kamalini Mukherjee and Meenakumari, with whom he establishes relationships. Scripted by P F Mathews and Harikrishnan, the movie is cinematographed by Anjali Shukla.
The movie will open in Kerala theaters from the 23rd of this month.

ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 1: രണ്ടാം ഭാഗം ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഷാജി കൈലാസ്
ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 1 എന്ന മെഗാഹിറ്റിന് രണ്ടാം ഭാഗം വരുന്നതായി നേരത്തേ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. എസ് എന്‍ സ്വാമിയുടെ തിരക്കഥയില്‍ മമ്മൂട്ടി നായകനാകുന്ന ആ ചിത്രം ഒരു യുവ സംവിധായകന്‍ ചെയ്യുമെന്നായിരുന്നു റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ഇപ്പോള്‍ ചെറിയൊരു മാറ്റം ആ പ്രൊജക്ടിന് സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Mammootty launches Cocktail in Kochi
In latest Malayalam movie news, Arunkumar who is a regular with the editing department of Priyadarshan would be directing a film named Cocktail. Only last week, the movie was released by Mammootty at the Hotel Highway Garden that's located in Kochi. Cocktail stars Jayasurya, Samvrutha and Anoop Menon in the leading roles.
Earlier, Mani Ratnam from the southern movie industry had experimented with this style in Yuva in the year 2004; however it was quite unsuccessful. In recent times, the ground-breaking Vedam featuring Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu, Anushka, Manoj Bajpai and Lekha followed the similar pattern. Anoop Menon, the scrip-writer for Cocktail claims that the film is a concoction of lots of characters as well as situations that should click with today's movie going audience.
The film is about three people, who had never met, step into a big city. Their lives somehow get entwined, since they crave one similar thing. The news buzz says that the flick in a way follows a pattern as set by the Mexican director, Alejandro Gonsalvez Inarittu in his classic Amores Perros released back in 2000. The movie reportedly follows the format of multiplicity of stories converging into the ending of the film.

Has Mohanlal lost his opening?
Mohanlal is in deep trouble!
His eagerly awaited Oru Naal Varum, which released on July 9 in 71 stations in Kerala, did not take the kind of opening one would associate with a Lal ettan film.
The film also carries mixed reports and the blame is on Sreenivasan whose script looks jaded, and somehow it lacked the magic of the duo's earlier combination films.
From the trade point of view, the film had a "cold start", as the fans could not fill up the theatres and on Monday and Tuesday the collections have nosedived.
In Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram where Mohanlal films open in multiple screens, it released in a single screen. In Ernakulam, the bigger 1180 seater Sarita was only showing it for noon show while matinee, evening and night shows were screened at the 540 seater Savitha.
Please note that Allu Arjun's Varan (dubbed from Telugu Varadu) a flop for some strange reasons was preferred at the bigger screen!
At the 909 seater Sreekumar in Thiruvananthapuram, traditional Mohanlal citadel with a small balcony (168 seats), there was no pressure on advance booking, and the hall was struggling to get houseful on a weekend.
At Kottayam Abhilash, another big screen the film has taken only a 85 percent opening.
The alarm bells are ringing in the trade. Oru Naal Varum, was said to be the comeback vehicle of Mohanlal, after the disastrous Alexander the Great.
It had a hit team of Mohanlal-Sreenivasan a combination that has never failed still the film has taken only an average opening.

Mammootty to restrike as Perumal!
It seems to be raining sequels in Malluwood.
The latest sequel being planned is the one to 'August 1', the hit crime thriller that had Mammootty playing Perumal, the hotshot cop.
It should be remembered that 'August 1' was a film that was quite different from the films that Siby Malayil had done till then. The script of the film was by S N Swami.
Its also rumoured that Siby might not direct the sequel. Another young director might step in, instead.

The latest sequel being planned is the one to 'August 1', the hit crime thriller that had Mammootty playing Perumal, the hotshot cop.
It should be remembered that 'August 1' was a film that was quite different from the films that Siby Malayil had done till then. The script of the film was by S N Swami.
Its also rumoured that Siby might not direct the sequel. Another young director might step in, instead.

Oru Naal Varum lacks magic[2/5]
When things go wrong, we tend to turn to our most trusted friend for help. The Malayalam film industry follows the same technique – it tries to bring back the lustre by bringing back all those who had shone in its golden period. And who is better than our trusted writer Sreenivasan who, we think, still has the magic potion? Then add Mohanlal, who has given life to many commoner characters created by Sreenivasan's pen. And that's the team for Oru Naal Varum, directed by T K Rajeev Kumar.
But the question remains: Will the Sreenivasan-Mohanlal magic work in recycled films? The response would be mixed as Sreenivasan does try to give contemporary feel to his stories. Still, it feels he has tried to fit in too much in this script.

Gopikrishnan (Sreenivasan) is the assistant Town Planning Officer who does not mind fleecing the government or the citizens. He shamelessly takes bribes, and convinces his naïve wife (played by Devayani) that he is not corrupt -- that it is a mutual 'give and take' among friends.
There enters Kulappulli Sukumaran (Mohanlal), a commoner who has to get Gopikrishnan's approval for his house plan. But there is a history of an incident of road rage between them. So Gopikrishnan troubles him to his heart's content.
This is just one stream in the narrative. There are other sub-plots like the domestic life of the two main leads and the workings of a governmental department.
While Gopikrishnan has a simple home-maker for a wife and a teenage daughter, who wishes to pursue medicine after completing her school, Sukumaran has an ambitious wife Meera (Sameera Reddy), who has separated from him as she feels stifled at home. So Sukumaran is a single parent of their school-going daughter, still fighting for custody.
The other notable sub-plots involve Nedumudi Venu as an ex-military man, who is harassed by Gopikrishnan for a supposedly illegal extension of his house and he refuses to bribe Gopikrishnan for getting it approved.
The first half works wonderfully due to the presence of a lively and humorous Mohanlal. Sadly, he transforms into somebody else just before intermission: as if to do justice to his superstar image.
Sreenivasan seems to be going through a lean patch as an actor and writer. His trademark sharp and witty dialogues are missing. Even his performance as Gopikrishnan is below par.
Sameera Reddy has nothing remarkable to do. Was her role truncated on the editing table? Devayani walks away with a meatier role as the docile housewife not just because of her extra screen time but also because of her contribution to the narrative.
The other noticeable performances are of Nedumudi Venu and Suraj Venjaramoodu (as Gopikrishnan's driver and middleman in his illegal activities).
Oru Naal Varum may be a well intended social satire but it ends up as a conundrum.

പുതിയ വീഞ്ഞ് വളരെ പഴയ കുപ്പിയില്‍
മാസറ്റര്‍പീസുകള്‍ മാത്രമെഴുതുന്ന അദ്ഭുതപ്രതിഭ ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ കഥ മോഷ്ടിച്ചു എന്ന പരാതി റിലീസിനു മുമ്പ് തന്നെ വന്‍ വാര്‍ത്താ പ്രാധാന്യം നേടിക്കൊടുത്ത ഒരു നാള്‍ വരും തിയറ്ററുകളിലെത്തി. കഥയെഴുതിയത് ശ്രീനിവാസനാണെങ്കിലും അല്ലെങ്കിലും തിരക്കഥ ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ ആണെന്നുറപ്പാണ്. പറഞ്ഞു പഴകിയ നമ്പരുകളും ബോറടിച്ചുമരിക്കാറായ കോമഡികളും അനിതരസാധാരണമായ ഇഴച്ചിലും കാലഹരണപ്പെട്ട ഒരു തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തിന്‍റെ കയ്യൊപ്പു ചാര്‍ത്തിയ സിനിമയുടെ വിധിയറിയാന്‍ അധികം കാക്കേണ്ടതില്ല. മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ ഫാന്‍സ് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള സ്ഥിരം തിയറ്റര്‍ പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ കൂവിയും കോട്ടുവായിട്ടും നേരം കൊല്ലുമ്പോള്‍ സീരിയലുകളുടെ ഇഴച്ചില്‍ ശീലമായ കുടുംബപ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ ചിത്രം ആസ്വദിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
കഥ തുടരുന്നു, മമ്മി ആന്‍ഡ് മി തുടങ്ങിയ കുടുംബചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വലിയൊരു തരംഗമുണ്ടാക്കാതെ പോയ കേരളത്തില്‍ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭാവിയും അത്ര ശോഭനമായിരിക്കുമെന്നു കരുതാന്‍ വയ്യ. 2010ലെ കഥയും 1980ലെ തിരക്കഥയുമാണ് ഈ സിനിമയുടെ ഏറ്റവും സവിശേഷമായ ഘടകം. എന്തുകൊണ്ട് ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും എണ്‍പതുകളില്‍ തന്നെ നില്‍ക്കുന്നു ? പുതുതലമുറക്കാരനായ മകനോട് ഒരു മല്‍സരം വേണ്ടെന്നു വച്ചിട്ടാണോ അതോ സ്വയം കാലഹരണപ്പെട്ടതാണോ ? എന്തായാലും എന്നെപ്പോലെയൊരു സാധാരണക്കാരനു സഹിക്കാവുന്ന അവസ്ഥയിലുള്ളതല്ല സിനിമ. മോഹന്‍ലാലിനു വലിയ പ്രകടനത്തിനോ വിസ്മയത്തിനോ ഒന്നും ചിത്രത്തില്‍ അവസരമില്ല.
കട്ടപ്പനയില്‍ നിന്നു വിറ്റുപെറുക്കി നഗരപരിധിയിലെക്കി വീടുവയ്‍ക്കാനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സാധാരണക്കാരനായ സുകുമാരനെയാണ് മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. അസിസ്റ്റന്‍റ് ടൗണ്‍ പ്ലാനിങ് ഓഫിസറായ ഗോപീകൃഷ്ണനായി ശ്രീനിവാസനും വേഷമിടുന്നു. കൈക്കൂലിക്കാരനായ ഗോപീകൃഷ്ണനെ വീടു വയ്ക്കാനായി സുകുമാരന്‍ സമീപിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, മകള്‍ക്ക് മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളജില്‍ അഡ്മിഷന്‍ ശരിയാക്കുന്നതിനു വേണ്ടി അഴിമതിയും അലമ്പുകളുമായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഗോപീകൃഷ്ണന്‍ പഴയ ഒരു ഉടക്ക് മനസ്സില്‍ വച്ച് സുകുമാരനെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നു. വെള്ളാനകളുടെ നാട്, വരവേല്‍പ് തുടങ്ങിയ ചില സിനിമകള്‍ നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സിലേക്കു വരുമെങ്കിലും ആ സിനിമകള്‍ തന്നെയാണ് ഭേദം എന്നു നമ്മള്‍ തിരിച്ചറിയും.
പഴയ മോഹന്‍ലാലിനെ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്ന ബ്രാന്‍ഡിങ് പൊളിയുകയാണ്. പഴയ മോഹന്‍ലാലും ശ്രീനിവാസനും പഴയ സിനിമകളിലേയുള്ളൂ എന്ന് കുറഞ്ഞത് കുറഞ്ഞത് മോഹന്‍ലാലും ശ്രീനിവാസനും എങ്കിലും മനസ്സിലാക്കണം. പഴയ ലാല്‍-ശ്രീനിയെ മിസ്സ് ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ക്ക് കേടു തീര്‍ക്കാന്‍ നാടോടിക്കാറ്റ് (അതിന്‍റെ കഥ സിദ്ദിഖ്-ലാലിന്റെ പക്കല്‍ നിന്നും ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ മോഷ്ടിച്ചതാണ് എന്ന വിവാദം അവസാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ല) പോലെയുള്ള സിനിമകള്‍ സിഡികളായി ഉണ്ട്. ഉദയനാണ് താരം (ബൗഫിഞ്ചര്‍ എന്ന ഹോളിവുഡ് പടത്തിന്‍റെ മോഷണമാണെന്നു പറയുന്നു), കഥ പറയുമ്പോള്‍ (അതിന്‍റെ കഥ തന്‍റേതാണെന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് സത്യചന്ദ്രന്‍ പൊയില്‍ക്കാവ് പരാതി നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു) തുടങ്ങിയ അദ്ഭുതകരമായ സിനിമകളോടെ ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍റെ തുലിക ഏറെക്കുറെ വരണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നും ചിലര്‍ പറയുന്നു.
മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ – ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിന്‍റെ മാര്‍ക്കറ്റ് ഈ പടത്തിനു കിട്ടില്ല. ഹരിഹര്‍ നഗര്‍ കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിലെ മധ്യവയസ്കരായ ചെറുപ്പക്കാരെ തന്നെ നമ്മള്‍ സഹിച്ചത് പാടുപെട്ടാണ്. മേക്കപ്പിട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ലാലേട്ടന് നല്ല പ്രായം തോന്നുന്നുണ്ട്. ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ വാര്‍ധക്യത്തിലേക്കുള്ള സഞ്ചാരത്തിലാണ്. സുകുമാരനുമായി വഴക്കിട്ട് വിവാഹമോചനം കാത്ത് കേസുമായി കഴിയുന്ന ഭാര്യയായി സമീര റെഡ്ഡി അഭിനയിക്കുന്നു. സമീര റെഡ്ഡിയെക്കൊണ്ട് ചിത്രത്തിന് യാതൊരു പ്രയോജനവുമുണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറയാം. ആ നടിയുടെ മുഖത്തു നിന്ന് ഭാവങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തുക എന്നത് ഒരു ചലച്ചിത്ര വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് നല്ലൊരു ഗവേഷണവിഷയമായിരിക്കും. എങ്ങനെ നോക്കിയാലും ശരാശരിയോ ശരാശരിയില്‍ താഴെയോ ആണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ റേറ്റിങ്. അന്യഭാഷാ സിനിമകളുടെ റിലീസിങ് മാത്രമല്ല, നിര്‍മാണവും കൂടി നിര്‍ത്തിവയ്‍പിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില്‍ മലയാള സിനിമ കട്ടപ്പൊകയാകുമെന്ന് ഏകദേശം ഉറപ്പിക്കാം.
മണിയന്പിള്ള രാജു പ്രൊഡക്ഷന്‍സിന്‍റെ ബാനറില്‍ മണിയന്പിള്ള രാജു നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം ടി.കെ.രാജീവ്കുമാറാണ് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. കഥ(?), തിരക്കഥ, സംഭാഷണം- ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍. 2.30 മണിക്കൂര്‍ ദൈര്‍ഘ്യമുള്ള ചിത്രത്തില്‍ രണ്ടു ഗാനങ്ങളാണുള്ളത്. സംഗീതം എം.ജി.ശ്രീകുമാര്‍. ഗാനങ്ങള്‍ മുരുകന്‍ കാട്ടാക്കട. ദേവയാനി,നെടുമുടി വേണു, സിദ്ദിഖ്, ലാലു അലക്സ്, സുരാജ് വെഞ്ഞാറമൂട്, കുഞ്ചന്‍, കോട്ടയം നസീര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവരും സിനിമയിലഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഇനി എന്നു വരും?' എന്ന് ആലോചിച്ച് കാത്തിരുന്നവരുടെ മുന്നിലേക്ക് മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍ - ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍ ടീമിന്റെ 'ഒരുനാള്‍ വരും' എത്തി. ടി കെ രാജീവ് കുമാര്‍ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഈ സിനിമ 'ഒരു ശരാശരി ചിത്രം' എന്നാണ് ആദ്യ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്.
ലളിതമായി കഥ പറഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അവിശ്വസനീയമായ ട്വിസ്റ്റുകളും രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിലെ ഇഴച്ചിലും നായികയുടെ മോശം പ്രകടനവും ചിത്രത്തിന് ന്യൂനതയായി. ചില കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്‍(ഉദാഹരണം - മണിയന്പിള്ള രാജുവിന്‍റെ കഥാപാത്രം) പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ കൂവല്‍ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങുന്നുണ്ട്.
മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്‍റെ കടുത്ത ആരാധകര്‍ പോലും ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രകടനത്തില്‍ തൃപ്തരല്ലെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍. പത്തനംതിട്ടയിലും എറണാകുളത്തും ചില തിയേറ്ററുകളില്‍ സിനിമ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ സാങ്കേതിക തടസമുണ്ടായത് നേരിയ സംഘര്‍ഷത്തിനിടയാക്കി.
മോഹന്‍ലാലിന്‍റെ മികച്ച പ്രകടനം തന്നെയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ജീവന്‍. മോഹന്‍ലാലിനെ ദേവയാനിയുടെ കഥാപാത്രം 'തടിയന്‍' എനു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് തിയേറ്ററുകളില്‍ കയ്യടിയും കൂവലും സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നു. ശ്രീനിവാസന്‍റെ കഥാപാത്രം വേണ്ടതുപോലെ ഏശുന്നില്ല. പല പഴയസിനിമകളിലെയും മുഹൂര്‍ത്തങ്ങള്‍ ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കും ശ്രീനിയുടെ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്‍റെ വിക്രിയകള്‍. എന്നാല്‍ സിദ്ദിഖിന്‍റെ വില്ലന്‍ വേഷം നന്നായി.
ലളിതമായി കഥ പറഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അവിശ്വസനീയമായ ട്വിസ്റ്റുകളും രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിലെ ഇഴച്ചിലും നായികയുടെ മോശം പ്രകടനവും ചിത്രത്തിന് ന്യൂനതയായി. ചില കഥാപാത്രങ്ങള്‍(ഉദാഹരണം - മണിയന്പിള്ള രാജുവിന്‍റെ കഥാപാത്രം) പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ കൂവല്‍ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങുന്നുണ്ട്.

Due to some technical reasons, VM-malayalam's sensoring is postponed to coming Monday...Y'rday, hentry, producer of the film came to TVM..to solve all the issues..Around 85-95 theatres r ready to release VM @Kerala...@Tamilnadu..there will be 200-225 prints for releasing...For Telugu, around 50+ prints were prepared...Totally around 350 prints for VM allover India..Release date will be officially released @Monday..Most probably 15/16..Time ads will start grand promotion frm Monday onwards..

Mammootty is King and Prithviraj is Commissioner
Yes, this is big news...After the recent coming together for the biggest hit of the year 'Pokkirri Raja', Megastar Mammootty and young superstar Prithviraj are once again poised to share the screen.
The movie on discussion titled as 'The King And The Commissioner' will also unite ace scriptwriter Renji Panikkar again with trendy director Shaji Kailas after 15 years. The movie planned as a sequel to the super hits 'The King' and 'The Commissioner' both by Shaji Kailas, Renji Panikakr duo will unite the lead characters of both the films for a single flick. While Mammootty will don his big favourite Joseph Alex IAS once again.
Prithvi will be in the role of Bharath Chandran played in the original by Suresh Gopi. To be produced by Anto Joseph, the movie will be distributed by Mammootty's Playhouse. 'The King And The Commissioner' is expected to be shot at locations in Hyderabad, Delhi and Kochi.
