Rafi-Mecartin part ways?

Rafi and Mecartin, the director duo behind films such as Love in Singapore and the successful Punjabi House, are rumoured to have parted ways.

The grapevine is that the decision to part ways is said to have come about following the box office disaster of their Mammootty-starrer, Love in Singapore. The film, which rode on major hype in its pre-release days, failed miserably when it was commercially released all over Kerala last month. The producer is rumoured to have taken a hit of around Rs 1.75 crore making it among the latest movies to fumble at the BO.

The two directors, who rose to prominence as Malayalam filmdoms successful film maker duo with just a handful of ventures that raked in much money, were rated among Keralas hit-makers. While Rafi proved himself as a successful producer-director, Mecartin had been credited as a master in the scripting department.

With the two deciding to part ways, they have become the latest in the line after another successful filmmaker duo Siddique and Lal calling its quits as a team a few years ago.
