Shah Rukh Khan introduces Mammootty in PAZHASSI RAJA, no fee taken!!

Shah Rukh Khan, the Badshah of bollywood who is famous for his generous
acts for friendly producers (recall Sushmita Sen starrer Vivek
Vaswani’s ‘Dulha Mill Gaya’) and directors, has
introduced southern super star Mammootty in the Hindi version of
upcoming flick ‘Pazhassi Raja’.

Shah Rukh has already dubbed the prologue gratis for the flick that will
bring Mammootty as Pazhassi Raja on the screen. Sources say that King
Khan not only did it on the request of director T Hariharan, who had
gone to meet him during a shoot in Film City, but also refused to charge
any money for his obliging act.

The buzz doing the rounds in the industry is that Shah Rukh Khan was
very impressed with the subject of the film, which is based on a freedom
fighter during the British era and so decided to forgo his remuneration
for the friendly gesture.

The grapevine has it that Shah Rukh Khan not charging any money from the
producer of the flick for his work has some emotional reason behind it.
In fact, Shah Rukh Khan’s forefathers in Delhi had fought against
the British during freedom struggle, and so he did not want to charge a
film based on that subject.

In fact, Pazhassi Raja was one of the earliest freedom fighters of
India. He had raised the banner of rebellion against the British East
India Company, when the whole Indian population was suffering in
silence. It was even before that first freedom struggle that had started
with sepoy mutiny in 1857 AD.

Though Shah Rukh Khan will be introducing Mammootty in Hindi version of
the film, veteran actor Mohanlal will take the charge for the original
Malayalam version of the upcoming flick. Similarly, Kamal Hassan, the
veteran actor producer of Tamil cinema, will do the honor for the Tamil
version

Bollywood insiders say that this good gesture on the part of Shah Rukh
Khan is an indication that they will work together in future projects.
Shah Rukh Khan has always been interested in working with brilliant
producers-directors from South, but unfortunately (except for
Priyadarshan’s‘Billu Barber’) it has not translated
in concrete work.

For instance, Shah Rukh Khan had almost agreed to work with veteran
director Shankar in the mega budget flick ‘Robot’ (which
now has Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai), but things did not work out
perfectly for them. The buzz was that Shah Rukh wanted some changes in
the script to suit his bollywood image, but Shankar did not agree to
that and instead cast Rajnikanth in his place.
