Megastar Mammootty who was in close competition with Salimkumar for the best actor title of the year, opined that it is Salimkumar who rightly deserved the year's accolades. The megastar was speaking in the reception offered to Salimkumar by the Old students association of Maharajas college, from which dozens of names has decorated the Mollywood screen titles. He was also not in confirmation with the popular opinion that this year's award was much in different lanes from the regular award announcements.
Salimkumar who later talked about his campus life in Maharajahs also remembered that it was one of the principals of the college named Bharathan, who rightly guided him to be in the status that he is right now. Many of the famous Alumnus of the college including Anwar rasheed, john Paul, Aashiq Abu, Sarayu and baburaj also attended the function.
