Mammootty plays the legendary character Ravanan in the new film directed by 'Byari' fame Suveeran. The movie is an adaptation of N S Madhavan's novelette Mandodhari, with the same title. N S Madhavan's Mandodhari is a modern retelling of Ramayana in the 21st century.
As Sita was kidnapped by Ravana, a beautiful lady was abducted by a wrestler. Mammootty plays the main role who has the characteristics of Ravana. Mandodhari is Ravana's wife.
'Mandodhari' is the debut directorial venture of Suveeran in Malayalam. 'Byari' is a 2011 film in the Beary language which won the National Film Award for the Best Feature Film.
'Mandodhari' will be shot in Goa. The film will start only after Mammootty's two films with Salim Ahmed and Ranjith.
