Will the March films survive the IPL heatwave?

The industry has been reeling under several issues lately; and the controversy raised by Thilakan had only added to its woes.

The major hurdle that the film industry is likely to face in the month of March, is none other than the Indian Premier League, that is to start today.

IPL has a huge fan following in Kerala, and this includes the normal cinema going population as well. A majority of film lovers will remain glued to their drawing rooms in March, until the IPL season comes to a close.

The month of March doesn't have many major releases hence, with several big films shying away from the theatres. There would be only two major releases - Prithvi's 'Thanthonni' and Lal's 'In Ghost House Inn'.

It remains to be seen if these high profile releases strike gold at the box office, despite the IPL season raging on. A royal battle seems likely to be waged between cricket and films, and may the best player win.
