Christmas Box-office:3 Mammootty films out of 5 in hit chart

The Christmas -New Year season was a pretty good one for the Malayalam industry, which produced a few hits in Box office. The top five films of the week are:

Mammootty-Chattampi nadu'Chattampi Nadu' - This is definitely the winner among the Christmas releases, which continues to bring in full houses. The initial collections are amazing, all across Kerala. The kannada punch lines scripted by Benny and stylish mass sequences with Mammootty, donning the character of Virendra Mallaya after Rajamankyam is said to be reasons for the consistent collections that the film is fetching. 'Chatampi Nadu' is already declared as a 'big hit' among filmi circles.

'Ividam Swargamanu' - Director Roshan Andrews could not make his comeback successful by delivering a hit to favorite hero Mohanlal, who is passing through a bad phase in his career. The film which is advertised as a realistic thriller, couldn't match its predecessors in narrative skills. Aggressive marketing is now the key for the film to hold on, as its re-edited version on theatres looks more polished than the original version.

'Gulumaal' - 'Gulumaal' has landed safely and will provide as a moderate success to its makers. The film with average collections moves on to the sixth week, but will find it harder to survive the next week's big Malayalam releases.

'Pazhassi Raja' - Hariharan's Magnum Opus still maintains its audience pull, to remain in the top of the charts. There is no question about 'Pazassi Raja' is already stated as a biggest grosser in Malayalam cinema surrounded by trade circles.


'Paleri Manikkamm' - In the major cities, the film has invited renewed interest from the audience. In the weekends the film is registering eighty percent collections. 'Paleri Manikkam' will soon reach its fifty days run by the end of this month.
