Daddy Cool -Review

Daddy is cool is a refreshingly cool attempt by the debutant Ashiq abu and his crew. Rich frames, with apt star cast helps Daddy cool to engage you in the theatre. Aadhi is too crazy about his Police officer dad and projects his dad as a superhero to himself and his friends. Antony Simon, the Dad on the other hand is indifferent and loves to spent time with his son.

Aadhi has injected the cricket fever in him to his dad and together they love enjoying the game. One night they happen to save the cricketer Srikanth from a goonda attack and thereby poking at troubles. A series of incident follows that urges Anony to be the real Police man that he is.The film is stylish from the word go. The first half is more family based while the second deals with action sequences.

Mammootty is at his glamorous best as Antony Simon and puts an effortless performance stealing the show. Cool Daddy's son isn't far behind though. Dhanjay as aadi puts up a commendable performance too. The trio of Babu Raj, Biju Menon and Daniel Balaji deliver apt performances. The heroine Richa Pallod though struggles in her first scene, coping up later to give an ok performance.Infact it is the star cast, the rich frames and the tunes that hides of many of the shortcomings in the script. These issues in the screenplay are more projected in the second half that lacks the thrill and kill of a filmy cat and mouse game.

Cinematographer Samir Thahir stylish taking sets the tone, right from the first frame. Due credit should be given to Aashiq Abu for his technical perfection and freshness of each frame. Biji Bal tunes strike a chord with the audience, Especially the title song. Aashiq Abu has tried hard to make an all-out cool breezy entertainer without boring you, which though could have been made cooler had he been more careful on the script.

Verdict: Stylish Entertainer
