Mammootty scores again, with 'Pokkiri Raja'

Once again, Mammootty has showed that he has a special knack for identifying potential winners
His summer release 'Pokiri Raja' stands testimony to that. The film by debutant Vysakh starred the megastar with the emerging superstar Prithviraj.
Vysakh made the film in such a way that would appeal to the fans of both the actors. The results were visible in the first week itself: It beat its competitors 'Katha Thudarunnu' and Mohanlal's 'Alexander the Great' hands down.
Though the film is a loud adaptation of Kollywood masala flicks, it gives one not much time to think about its demerits while at the theatre. The producer has got a share of Rs 2 crore in the first week itself and that is a pointer to the business acumen of Mammootty and Vysakh. It is difficult to believe that the same actor who does 'Pazhassi Raja' and 'Paleri Manikyam' could sink to the depths of 'Chattambi Nadu' and 'Pokiri Raja'.
Mohanlal's 'Alexander the Great' flopped at the B.O on the second day itself as even the superstar's die hard fans found sitting through the film quite an ordeal. As for 'Katha Thudarunnu', the film has started slowly as is usual with Sathyan Anthikkad films. It may pick up momentum this week and go all the way.
